Paul do Mar Beach House

Not near any larger supermarkets so you would need a car to get to anything. No coals for bbq.

House is located in the centre of Paul do Mar with a nice terrace and sea view. It offers a very good value fo money and also Beatriz was very helpful and available on Whatsapp for all the information.

It is a very nice small village without many tourists. There is a very good restaurant 100 m of walking from the house. Our children liked three floors and a terrace.

Village is really small. No food shop, only restourants and a lot of bars.

Since it's a house, it would have been nice to at least have some very basic condiments in the kitchen such as oil and vinegar, pepper and maybe a few coffee capsules, since there was a coffee machine. Table salt was the only thing there was. It always shows when hosts don't really invest money into a property anymore and care about these small details (all of these condiments would literally cost less than EUR 3). The same goes for beds, mattresses, pillows and linen. The bed was so uncomfortable that we never get a good night's sleep. It was a box spring mattress that was probably many years old. Overall, everything was pretty uncomfortable in the house: the chairs, sofa upstairs, beach chairs on the terrace...it was all a bit run down really. After this stay, we rented a luxury apartment in Funchal for EUR 15 more per night, which was so high-end with the most comfortable beds, luxury bathroom and a really well equipped kitchen with various complimentary items and in hindsight, we wish we would have just stayed there the entire time.

The property is three stories. When it was hot on the upper floor, the bedrooms remained reasonably cool. The view of the ocean was wonderful from the terrace, as were the breezes. Paul do Mar is a quiet place to relax.

There are limited services in the village, but that makes it a quiet place to relax.
