Thundering waves

Large house. Comfortable, and neat. Walking distance to a small beach & bird conservation area. Good location for exploring the area. Newly updated kitchen. Nice main bedroom. Quiet which was bliss. A good getaway from the city noise.

I felt that the bathroom needed some attention. The shower curtain was not good at all..toiletries shelf was loose in the fitting etc. The bathroom outside drain was blocked & overflowed. A few more kitchen utensils such as a carving knife. My friend & I are both chefs/cooks. The Braai grid was very basic & not cleaned by the previous visitors. Really bad.. A meat holder/flipper should be available for the braai. However, the mild irritation at the lack of attention to detail put aside this did not hamper us from having a lovely 3 nights at Thundering Waves, I would recommend it.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Thundering Waves in Bettys Bay, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the property's idyllic location and amazing views of the sea and surrounding mountains. The property's has a garden gate that leads directly to a path over the dunes, granting easy and convenient access to the beach. The house itself was a true home away from home. It was evident that a lot of thought had gone into making guests feel comfortable and well taken care of. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals. We were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail, as even small essentials like spices and condiments were readily available. One aspect that impressed us was the house's preparedness for load shedding, charged lanterns and a gas stove with a stove-top kettle were provided. The indoor fireplace provided a cozy and warm ambiance, perfect for chilly evenings (we visited in early July) or unwinding with a good book. Whether we were enjoying the crackling fire indoors or a tasty meal at the braai area, these features enhanced our overall experience and added an extra touch of coziness and enjoyment to our stay. Our stay at Thundering Waves was excellent and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to relax and immerse themselves in nature's beauty while enjoying all the comforts of a well-appointed holiday home.

The presence of only one full bathroom with a shower over the bath is the only thing I would say could benefit from an update. It did not however, pose a problem for our party of 4.

The location is exceptional and the kitchen is great

Lovely old holiday home with beautiful views. We enjoyed the indoor fireplace and cosy chairs.

The bathrooms were a bit basic — shower over bath and one toilet didn’t flush properly.

The explanations about keys, alarm, baboons, were not too clear.

The booking process ,access and management. Please make it clear on your booking engine that even though this is a house rental that sleeps 5 ,some of the rooms are closed for access according to the original enquiry...I arrived late at night while trying to get the key out of the garage ,the garage door kept closing down on my head .The owner is quite intense to the point of rudeness and was actually waiting outside the house at 10 am on a Sunday morning waiting for us to leave . It was my birthday the weekend and put a real damper on my weekend to end it like that. I would rather rent a place that is professionally managed by a third party for a relaxing stay rather than an owner who is a micromanager,it's very unpleasant

It was described as an entire home,however upon arrival a room was designated to us, we didn't have the opportunity to choose for ourselves, the other two bedrooms were locked for following two reasons, so that the laundry didn't have to be done and a trust issue of people booking for two but inviting friends...we are not those sort of individuals...bathroom needs a major update! Outdoor shower is lovely but all depends on weather..

Thundering waves is an absolute delight. From the beautiful mountain and sea views to the amazing bird life, scenic walks and peace and tranquility. We loved every minute. The outdoor shower was an added bonus and Sue was a pleasure to deal with. We can’t wait to stay there again.
