Location was good, clean modern interior, warm (luckily)

Directions to collect keys were bad, building does not have a name on it, the direction to the office said opposite the pub, its not. Overlooking the bowling green would have been more helpful. Even a local working in the cafe said it hadn't been called a gallery for years. In every cottage we have rented in the past all over the world there has been a "welcome pack" of local biscuits bread ect. Here there were a few tbags, 3 sachets of coffee and some uht milk which nobody likes. There wasn't even any salt or pepper! Luckily it wasn't cold, there was one match to light fire, with notes in the handbook saying there would be a charge for excessive energy use for heating and that they can sell you some logs. I dare say this is policy from the agent rather than the property owner, considering that this agent is probably the biggest in the area there is some room for some completion to do a better job.

The bed was uncomfortable and corner of cupboard above the sink dangerous if you are over 5 ft 7 think you need a sign, my boyfriend hit his head very hard after putting something in the bin.

The cottage had everything you needed.

Difficulty finding a parking space

The decorating for Christmas. The house was very well appointed. Kitchen equipment particularly was good. And the choice of mugs etc is lovely. The house is small but very well thought through. Lots of books, games and dvds provided. Very simple key pick up system.

No logs provided for the burner. We were only there 2 days and got in very late on the first night. Similarly it would have been nice to have some oil for cooking (we left a bottle) and some tea/coffee. Nothing deal breaking at all just would've been nice extras. Slightly better instructions on finding the office for keys in the dark world be good. The instruction to stand with back to pub wasn't great when the pub is on an angle and there are 3 roads. Maybe mention it's signposted to Ambleside - there's difficult lighting to see that. It's smaller than it looks in the photos - wasn't a problem for us.

We loved this cosy cottage. It is in a perfect position and we hardly used the car all week. Amazing walking right on the doorstep.
