Mandarini House

Everything! Venetia and Michalis are great hosts, they advised on beaches and places to see and on delicious restaurants. Mandarini House is a beautiful old village house restored with a lot of love and taste. Venetia has stocked it with all you need and for our family (4 people) it was confortable and roomy. We found fruits, biscuits, juice... but best of all Venetia's tangerine marmalade... spectacular!!! The house is located in a tiny village, the position is perfect if you plan to visit Eastern Crete (Xerokampos/Zakros/Vai/Itanos/...). Don't miss the hike in Chochlakies Gorge (directly from the house) and the wonderful beach at the end, on the return your reward will be a cold beer at the beautiful kafeneio next door to Mandarini House. Thank you Venetia and Michalis, we are already thinking to a second round!

It's a nicely refurbished old stone house. Great location - tiny village, quiet, tranquil, close to the Chochlakies gorge. It is also well equipped (kitchen and bathroom and laundry, etc..). The wifi is surprisingly good (stable and fast). And the host is very friendly.

The house can be bit shady (or dark if you will) due to the fact that it's still an old house (construction-wise), although tastefully refurbished. So small windows and doors, etc.. If you prefer sunny and bright interiors, then this is not one of them. However, it does have a very nice terrace which can be used even during bit stronger winds. So all in all - it was perfect for us.

Really nicely renovated house in a tiny village. The property has absolutely everything a guest may need, including some welcoming touches like fresh fruit and things to make breakfast. We loved the look and feel of the house, the garden, the quietness and the hosts who gave us great recommendations and also are super cool to meet! The house is located close to all the beaches of the area so it's very conveniently placed wherever you want to go.

We enjoyed our one week stay at the Mandarini House tremendously. The house is beautifully renovated and very tasteful. Nothing is missing. Our hosts were so helpful and charming. Needless to say, you need a car to get there and to explore the stunning nature of eastern Crete.

We loved everything. The situation for visiting the east coast is perfect, in between Xerocampos and Vai beach. The small village is so quiet and nice, in a beautiful landscape. The house is very well renovated, perfectly clean and confortable, with all the equipments needed. The courtyard and the terrace are very nice, also. The 1:30 jour hike through the Chochaklies gorge leads to a wonderful nearly desert beach, with very clear water. And on top of all, the host welcome was so warm and friendly: Venetia gave us the best tips for beaches, restaurants and hikes, and provided us with delicious fruits, bread, honey, fruit juices…. 5 stars hospitality!

We loved everything

Fantastic place. Calm, quite and original. Super place for a family vacation without crowds of tourists. less than 10 minutes drive to Kouremenos beach. The house is clean and well equipped. Lovely, friendly and very helpful host. Highly recommended.

Despite the very strong wind we enjoyed our time at Mandarini House immensely. It is a beautifully restored old house in a perfect location between the wonderful beaches of Xerokampos and the almost as beautiful beaches of the northern coast. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful. They explained everything in detail and left us a fridge full of local delicacies. We would love to stay there again.
