Granny’s Cottage

Great cottage. Spacious rooms and beds were very comfortable. Well kitted out and we had everything we needed. Lovely to have the use of the garden and sun porch. Good location for visiting the Scottish Borders, Northumbria and Cumbria. Excellent value for the price. Elaine was waiting for us when we arrived which we appreciated as we had got stuck in traffic around Edinburgh and then got lost.

It was clean and comfortable. Has a lovely garden to relax in if weather allows.

Lovely garden. Elaine helped with food supply on first night when no shops or restaurants were open at 8pm.

Microwave not working. Not much flexibility for check in, had to wait at pub for an hour. Got critisized afterwards for leaving place in disarray when we left things tidy and clean, took out rubbish etc. Inappropriate requests for further pay when the property was quite expensive as it was and we left things very tidy and as we did everywhere else. I would not recommend staying there.

Great cottage. Cosy and warm. We used it as a base for the Kielder observatory, which worked well. Great to have flexibility on check in and checkout times, esp since we had to check in quite late in the evening.

Microwave had some issue, but was not a big concern to us. Small tip: It will be logistically better to ask visitors to load and run the dishwasher before checking out, as opposed to keeping dishes back, since this dishwasher has long cycle times.

Unable to get towel rail in bathroom to work. Despite copious instructions we were unable to operate the microwave. Furniture was dated
