Vintage Cozy Family Home near National Parks

The character of the place

We liked the fact that there were 3 bedrooms, dining area, kitchen and living room. The owner was so kind and she even included a propane tank for us to BBQ with.

We had no idea there were guests going to be in the basement of the house. There is only 1 full bathroom and 1 half bathroom. Upstairs does not have a bathroom. The unit cold use some TLC.

It was old and tired. Poor lighting. Steep narrow stairs to 2nd storey bedrooms. Pull string light switches hard to find when arriving after dark and stairwell light only accessible at the top. Tricky in the dark. Beds uncomfortable for 2. Not bad for 1. Roll to the middle when 2 in bed. Cutlery minimal. Could be a really cute and comfortable cottage if some money is spent to fix it up.

We would have liked the house if it had what we needed

Couldn't use the stove the whole 10 days, it didn't work. We turned it on and the house filled with gas & make everyone nautious & have headaches.We also didn't like the attitude from the husband after he had to pay $100 to have the stove looked at. We wanted a way out but we were never offered one. Please be aware of staying at this house with these hosts, if something breaks while you are there and you tell them you need it fixed, they will have an attitude & resent you the rest of the time you are staying there. Also, there is no washer and dryer and the neighbors are irritated that they use this home as an Air B & B.

It was very clean and the beds were soft and comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed and the welcome basket held magazines and brochures for local attractions. The breakfast items also made our mornings easier.

The owners apparently had not checked their listing advertising and marketing in a while. They had listed that there was a washer and dryer ON SITE. We planned a 10 day trip with 5 changes of clothing and specifically booked this location so we could do laundry at the halfway point. We got to the property after an 11 hour day of hiking at Yellowstone- dirty and ready to do laundry. When I text the owner asking where the washer and dryer were, I received a google pin to a laundromat 3 miles away. He didn’t ask why I was asking where the laundry was, just sent a pin. We found that rude to start out. When I sent him a screenshot of his listing, he responded several minutes later with a screenshot of it changed ‘on the back end’ and said that booking had a glitch. We went to the laundromat and spend almost $8.00 for one load. I sent him a screenshot asking him for reimbursement of the laundry costs as well as for our time and the frustration and inconvenience. I asked for a $40.00 discount and received a response that it was Booking.coms fault and I needed to go to them. I called booking on our way back to the park and was told ‘it is the sole responsibility of the property owner to ensure their marketing and advertising is up to date at all times and notify booking if their are issues they need to fix’. I didn’t fight the owner further, I didn’t want to ruin my vacation fighting someone who obviously wouldn’t take responsibility for their mistake. I received an auto message that the owners have booking send at the end of a stay - it said ‘put the linens in the washer and dryer when you leave’ meaning - they obviously hadn’t checked their marketing through booking since they renovated and removed laundry. So he lied when I originally text him about it and likely sent me a screenshot of him changing it right then. One of the bathroom doors also didn’t latch and had a large vent in the door so whoever was in the bathroom could be heard loud and clear in the living room.

Our host went out and picked up the necessary supplies for breakfast! It was very helpful! She was also very informative about things in the town and what we could do while we were there.

The beds were one of the best beds we slept on. They were small beds, though, but they were really soft. I loved the gift basket. Had snacks, water and brochures

They had a HUGE hole on the side of the house. So if you have small children. You have to really watch them not to fall in. They didn't mention anything about someone living under their home until we paid for the house. We could hear some of there conversation and I know that they could hear us. I know that it's not the home owners problem but the next door neighbor has a confederate flag hanging in the front yard. My sons girlfriend came with us and she's half black

The property was everything we needed. Thanks for helping make our trip to Yellowstone awesome!
