The Bungalow

This was a lovely place to stay and my room had a wonderful view of the lake. I spent the night of my birthday there and in collaboration with my driver there was a small birthday cake in my room when I arrived, which was a lovely surprise. The made a great recommendation for somewhere to go for dinner, a short tuk tuk ride away (and they called the tuk tuk for me too).

You drive down a long lane to find the property and it was a little unprepossessing on arrival, so much so that we drove past it at first. However once we found it, it was great!

Perched high up overlooking Gregory Lake. Joseph & Samon were our perfect hosts. There are only 3 rooms, two look over the lake. Comfortable living room with big sofa to relax. Plentiful breakfast. If you are happy to walk, two good restaurants within 15-20 (Indian Summer & Themadardu), if not Joseph can organise Tuk Tuk for you. Lovely walks around the Lake & Victoria Park. Nuwara is busy but you can get provisions if needed. Our highlight, suggested by Joseph was a walk on the Pekeo Trail from Kandapola to Lovers Leap waterfall. It’s a tough 10-12k walk but you go through the most amazing tea plantations and extraordinary vegetation terraces. Views are spectacular.

Good place, very atmospheric rooms with high ceilings.

The Bungalow is a stunning home with spectacular views. The large living spaces and the friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us were also the highlights. The Bungalow is by far the most lovely place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka.

Very loud music from the fair at the lake went until nearly 11pm. It’s not clear whether this occurs every night. The water constantly dripping in the fire place. It would have been nice to have a fire however this was not possible because of the water. However over all I would definitely recommend staying at this beautiful home.

Hôtel agréable avec une très belle vue sur le lac, ce qui rend le séjour particulièrement paisible. Le petit-déjeuner est bon et le cadre est vraiment agréable. L’hôtel est un peu éloigné du centre, mais il reste possible d’y aller à pied en environ 20 minutes, ce qui reste raisonnable. Petit bémol : une légère odeur de sanitaires dans la salle de bain dans notre chambre. Globalement, le rapport qualité-prix est correct et l’endroit reste agréable pour séjourner à Nuwara Eliya.

Our history couldn’t have been more helpful, meeting us, helping with bags and making us some tea on arrival. He was so kind and welcoming and helped us plan our stay and arrange onward taxis. The view exceeded expectations, as did the room. The perfect stay in Nuwara Eliya, I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Odšla sva zelo zgodaj zjutraj on pripravili so nama zelo okusen zajtrk. Lastnik naju je čakal ob petih zjutraj in pomagal nositi prtljago.

Težek dostop. Velika okna in zgornji del se ni dalo zatemniti. Ne glede na to pa je bilo vse ostalo popolno.
