Skippers Retreat (with free doorstep parking)

The host kindly left us bread, eggs, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, granola and biscuits. Lovely, and very much appreciated.

The bed was uncomfortable and the feather pillows don’t have any support. Also, it would be good to have a table lamp at the front door and in the living room.

We had a wonderful stay at Skippers Retreat! The accommodation was absolutely pristine – spotless and beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The host was incredibly responsive and helpful, answering any questions quickly. We also really appreciated the thoughtful hamper – such a lovely touch that made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend Skippers Retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!

Accomodation had everything we needed & the location is excellent so handy for everything. Nice little welcome basket on arrival.

No complaints. Slight oversight with keybox when we arrived. Booking sent the wrong code & we had to phone the owner but this was sorted very quickly. Other than that very happy with Skippers Retreat.

The property was very well situated for all facilities in the town. Although not having a sea view, it was only one minute's walk from the beach. It was clean, comfortable and well-equipped, and the groceries provided were thoughtfully chosen and much appreciated. Having car parking right at the front door was a real bonus. The guest information book gave a comprehensive and humorous overview of things to do in the area.

A little more detail on practicalities would have been helpful. The information provided in the information handbook indicated, by means of local council leaflets, how to dispose of recyclable waste, but an indication of how, where and when to dispose of landfill waste would have been useful. We worked out by looking in the bin at the side gate that we should use the green bin for landfill, but as different local councils have different colour coding for their various bins, some more specific information would be welcome. Similarly, guidance would have been appreciated on what to do with bedding and towels at the end of our stay in order to meet the requirements of the housekeeper. We liked the good use of space in the breakfast bar arrangement, but felt that climbing on to those particular stools presented something of a challenge to the less fit and youthful.
