Vinte-Quinta da Boavista

As a foreigner, Portugal makes it very hard for you to charge an EV car. A combination of idiotic laws (soon to be repelled but the damage is done) and awful internet connectivity at various stations, as well as a plethora of useless Chademo chargers are completely destroying the experience in a country that was supposed to be a pioneer of auto electrification. Imagine the relief when we arrived at Quinta da Boavista and had quick access to a Tesla charger.

We spent a wonderful 8 day break here at Vinte which was so relaxing and highlighted the beauty of the North of Portugal. The story of how Vinte had become what it is today is so heartwarming and provides a real family feel to the resort. Every service you could imagine was supplied - some of the most memorable included the large tennis courts, the relaxing massage, the beautiful pool and of course the delicious food. If you ever visit Vinte I truly recommend the breakfast - every morning there would be a beautiful spread of fresh ingredients and we would choose how we wanted our eggs cooked by the wonderful chef Francesca. Moreover, the views were immaculate and the establishment was abundant with nature - we adored the many fruit trees surrounding us and will probably miss that most. As well as this we had the opportunity to explore the kitchen where Vinte makes their delicious home style products and of course we couldn’t leave without buying their amazing goods. The hotel staff were so friendly, attentive and accommodating ensuring our stay was the best possible and we were able to experience as much as we can! We are already wanting to return and are looking forward to seeing the newly built yoga spot in the mountains and the spa!

It was an absolute pleasure to stay at this property! We had seen a couple of reviews and we did like what we saw on the website as well. However since it is such a young property we didn't know quite what to expect. I am thrilled to say that our stay vastly exceeded our expectations. We were welcomed and looked after by Maria Lopes who is the kindest person! The owners are also very nice and the lady of the house would always bring fresh flowers for our breakfast table which was such a nice touch. The two houses that are available at the moment are impeccably renovated and decorated, having kept their traditional Portuguese feel on the outside and feeling very modern and yet cabin like inside. Little Portuguese details have been kept on the inside which I loved. We went as a couple however the whole experience is also clearly designed for families. They have a play room, a basket ball/football field as well as many walking trails to explore through their beautiful gardens and vineyard. We did not get to do any of that as it was so hot we spent the whole day at the pool which is in impeccable condition. In addition, and in light of its name we can verify that the view is stunning from wherever you stand - "Boavista" indeed!.

It is clearly missing a good restaurant or a more elaborated menu. They do have some meals available and the breakfast is great ( I have to eat gluten free and I always had something different to eat every day). However throughout the day if you want to have a more consistent meal than a club sandwich or a portobello mushroom with sautéed vegetables (both great but not a filling as one may need if they spend the whole day exploring) you do have to go to Ponte Lima Centre to find good Portuguese food. This isn't necessarily bad but it would be more convenient to have an in-house restaurant. Nevertheless we did have a fully equipped kitchen so we could have cooked, we just didn't want it to interfere with our laying around time ;) The good news however is that the property is expanding and a restaurant is in the making so fingers crossed for that. We definitely hope to be back for years to come, hopefully with a family of our own!

The farm is just beautiful and the facilities for kids are amazing. The kids room is just an attraction as is. The room are well decorated and basically you can just stay at the farm without leaving.

The property is awesome: the house itself and the territory. Everything is done on a high level.
