"Amazing location, great potential but very disappointing"

6.0

Garden is super for children, but definitely not secure for dogs in case anyone needs to know. Location is amazing, absolute dream location. We’ve frequented this coastline for generations and love Sandilands and Sutton which is a Hort walk ok the promenade or paths. Kitchen is really well equipped, but small fridge might be a challenge for some.

The property really wasn’t clean, at all. There were cobwebs everywhere, the sort that have been there some time, skirtings, shower tiles, doors all needed a good clean down. I moved the mat in the conservatory to exercise to find it hadn’t been swept under. I got the hoover out to hoover up suspicious looking items (looked like droppings but pest control thought might have been stones - I wasn’t getting close enough to inspect further and I had 3 young children, and even the hoover was filthy. On arrival I found there was no cot (I have a 4 month old) owner got another very good one delivered the next day and was very polite but misses the point that it should have been there and checked before arrival. Several of the lamps didn’t work. Including because there was no bulb in, the instructions state some in kitchen drawer but none. Throughout the stay we were promised the cleaners would come sort the hoover but no one appeared. The instructions stated dogs must stay in the living area, it would be better if this is stated in the listing, I wouldn’t have booked otherwise, my dog has severe separation anxiety. It was a shame as it ruined the whole experience back and forth in comms with the owner. I cleaned a few of the skirtings and the back door, I cleaned the windows between the main living space and the conservatory, I cleaned under the rugs and took down cobwebs, so it’s a lot cleaner now but I certainly didn’t do it all, and with that hoover, it wouldn’t end up that clean if you tried. Aside from the cleanliness, the master bed is rather uncomfortable, and needs a new mattress.

"a lovely bungalow in the perfect location for a family get away. would definitely go back especially if all the leaks w"

8.0

the location was excellent. great each bedroom had an en-suite. plenty of room for the 5 adults, toddler and 2 dogs. lovely kitchen and living area.

the main bedroom en-suite’s light didn’t work and sink leaked. the twin bedded room’s en-suite toilet leaked badly so much so the container I put under the pipe needed emptying twice a day. the carpet in the bedroom was quite wet. going from a review in August this was reported then.

"We all loved it - especially the beach!"

8.0

Shore Lodge is a beautiful large bungalow, with a very well equipped kitchen and a spacious garden. It is very relaxing & comfortable. It's main draw however, has to be its proximity to the beach! Within 2 minutes you cross the prom & are on a lovely vast sandy beach. We all loved it - swimming in the sea, lazing on the beach, building sandcastles & playing ball. Although it is dog friendly we didn't really find that dog poo was a problem. You can also easily walk to Sutton-on-Sea along the prom in 15-20 mins (which we did to eat out one evening)

We encountered some plumbing problems - a leak on the waste to the basin in the main bathroom & a leaking toilet in the twin-bedded bedroom. Both of these were reported to the owner and have hopefully been dealt with. The main problem (and this did somewhat spoil our stay) was the bed in the main bedroom. We found this to be uncomfortable with the noisiest springs I think I have ever encountered! The beds in the other bedrooms were reported to be very comfortable, so I really don't know why one bed should be so different!
