River Kaya

They provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. All neat and tidy and in great condition, it really is a beautiful house. The garden around the braai area is lovely, but the main viewing point with a view of the river is off the first bedroom balcony away from the fireplace. We were allowed to use kayak which made the river experience awesome.

Drinking water and firewood aren't provided. Also perhaps a little more info on how to access the river is important to people who might think it is closer than it is. We were expecting a much closer riverside vibe. Perhaps we misunderstood the description. There were jellyfish in the river on the one day which was a bit scary. We didn't know if it was safe to swim so we rather didn't.

It’s peaceful and remote

The access roads. I needed I higher vehicle or 4x4. The road to and from St Frances was not easy driving. I was told it was mentioned when booking but in fact on looking it up is specifically said I didn’t need a 4x4.
