Casa Santa

This was an amazing experience The hosts were wonderful The home is rustic and gives a true sense of what all the little stone houses you see are like inside We absolutely loved it! There is a washer, detergent and drying rack that came in handy as we were traveling with a backpack only It was quiet. The huge fenced in yard gave great privacy The outdoor wood grill with a supply of wood allowed us to grill fish every day We were able to cook simple meals easily Nice updated bathroom As far as people complaining about the musty smell, we opened the windows and in was gone. There is a dehumidifier in the bathroom that we emptied everyday. It is a stone house, that's just the way it is Yes the stairs to the sleeping attic are steep but we did fine. We are 60 yrs old.and in decent shape. The view out of the living room window was the ocean 😊 We had the best time here. It was our favorite place out of the 5 we stayed in the azores.

The bed was very firm but all the beds we slept on on the azores were this way. I think they prefer firm beds

Casa Santa is beautiful and really charming and the owners are so nice. We loved our stay and really liked experiencing the north side of the island. The kitchen was well stocked and the living room and garden were so cozy.

The beds are very hard and the ladder up to the loft is very steep so wouldn't be good for someone with mobility issues. There is a bit of a musty smell but it goes away after a few minutes with the windows open. It is also right on a somewhat busy street so there is a bit of traffic noise but it wasn't an issue.

Old style stone built house with very nice garden. It's a special experience to stay here and it's very pleasant to relax in the garden. The yard is safe to park even several cars. The location is also super, very close to everything. The hosts were extremely nice and helpful. During our stay they asked us several times if everything was ok, if they could help us in any way, they were very nice, I would definitely recommend them.

I can only think of one thing, and it's absolutely subjective, but the bed was a bit small for us. 140 cm wide small double bed upstairs, maybe by replacing it with a bigger one, it could be the perfect accommodation with 10+1 points.

Charm rustic spot and we enjoyed it. you must have a car if decide to stay there.

I have some personal concerns about the quality of the kitchen utensils, particularly the surface of the frying pans. It would be great if the owners could invest in replacements. There is a smell of dampness in the air. We don't mind it, as we understand that this is an old building near the ocean, and dampness is a part of daily life there. However, I believe many people who are used to the comfort of modern living may be disappointed.

Casa Santa is a special house. The craftsmanship, location and size were perfect for my husband and I. We were able to explore all of Sao Miguel Island, enjoy restaurants within walking distance or a short drive. While we didn't get to spend much time in the yard due to weather, it looked like it was perfect for BBQ's and relaxing evenings outside. The house had everything we needed.

These were not an issue for us, but as others have noted the steps to get to the bedroom upstairs are steep!

Very interesting home with lot of antic subjects in interior. Large and cozy garden. Convenient location in the middle part of northern site of the island, but also only 15 min drive to Ponta Delgada

We were surprised to find bedroom situating on the second floor with steep and narrow staircase. All other facilities including washroom are on the first floor. For people with limited mobility it could be a big problem, so this feature was supposed to be mentioned in the property description

Casa Santa-our home for several nights on beautiful Sao Miguel Island was truly remarkable. Restored with great care, traditionally decorated and set in a beautiful enclosed garden, it had privacy and a convenient location, close to Ponta Delgada, Sete Cidades, tea plantation and charming town Ribeira Grande. Parking was in the garden. We spent cozy evenings by the fireplace, had an evening meal in the garden and peaceful sleep in comfy bed. It was well equipped for cooking and dining, bathroom had toiletries; there was a washing machine and spare blankets for colder evenings - everything that made our stay comfortable. The whole house was very clean. Our hosts, Francisco and Maria were attentive and it was an easy communication with them. WiFi worked well. It is a wonderful place and we recommend it.
