Casa de Campo - Olive House

La zona exterior. La piscina está calentita hasta por la noche. Aunque en verano aprieta la casa tiene bastante corriente. Sino cuenta con aire acondicionado. Está lleno de árboles frutales y cuenta con una hamaca. Puedes hacer barbacoa.

Tiene bastantes insectos. Y hay algunas cosas de menaje que no cuentan con ellas; aunque la dueña, Ana, que es maravillosa, nos ha confirmado que se está haciendo cargo.

Casa de Campo was a little piece of paradise just far enough away from the hustle and bustle. The garden, views and pool area were just beautiful. An oasis of calm. The pool was consistently a lovely temperature. The vegetable garden and fruit trees were a wonderful addition. The privacy and security of the property was great, we instantly felt at ease, comfortable, a real home away from home. Anna, the host was wonderful, friendly and welcoming and quick at responding to messages. The location is a short drive to local shops, not too far from Braga and Barcelos. A little further to Porto but perfectly situated between a little of everything and the calm of nothing. The perfect balance. If you’re looking for an escape from a busy day or simply to relax from morning until night, this is the perfect home to come home to or never leave. The sun rises and sets across the main garden and pool area, offering all day sun and the patio area and hammock offer a welcome retreat from the heat of the day. Would highly recommend for families with children of various ages.

- Sorry to say, but there was a poop in the toilet - Outdoor furniture was really dirty, when we arrived, so we had to clean it ourselves - No soap and toiletries, shown on the pictures here on booking (soap provided on request) - No pool towels (provided on request) - No trash can in bathroom - Considering the price range it would be nice to get a bottle of drinkable water upon arrival (again, the expectations were made based on the pictures on booking) - Kitchen was equipped with a lot of stuff, however, we struggled with simple things: there was only one dull knife and one very used cutting board - No coffee capsules (provided on request) - The main issue: there is a very lovely cat, who’s living by the house. It’s being fed by the lady, so it’s not completely homeless, but very hungry. It was waiting for us outside every morning and asking for food. Besides that, four more very annoying cats came to us, when we were doing barbecue. I like animals and it was really sad to watch all of them hungry and surviving, but definitely not homeless, so we couldn’t take any action and start looking for a shelter or adoption. Overall, we had a feeling that we’re not welcomed, because we had to bother the lady, who’s managing the house, each time we needed something.

Beautiful location, especially as a family with kids. The pool is a great size. The abundance of fruit trees around the garden makes it a little oasis during the hot Portuguese summer. The animals are a great addition and the hosts were quick to respond despite not being there in person. The friendly neighbour is there to help and delivers fresh bread every morning. There’s a bit of a language barrier as she only speaks Portuguese but google translate is your friend. The air conditioning works well.

The property could be maintained a bit better and it would have been nice for the actual hosts to be around.

Pool was lovely and heated. Chickens and goats were unbelievably cute. Fresh bread every morning was a great addition. Lady who feeds the animals is so lovely and friendly. Plants so pretty.

Washing machine was out of action. Hot water not consistent. Toilet seat and toilet holder fell off. Garden needed a bit more maintenance - bushes driving in were overgrown as were those on the footpaths. Grass for very long whilst we were there.
