Casa do Castelo

Casa Castelo is really fantastic. Full of charm, with very good taste in terms of decoration. Owners did a great job in renovating the house, maintaining the charm of a traditional historic house with all the comfort of a new house. The terrace with its 360 view over the village and the castle is really amazing. It was very clean and comfortable, the check in very easy and the owners very responsive to any need or question. Location just by the entrance of the castle and in the center of the village is great. Highly recommend this house. The village of Castelo de Vide is definitely worth visiting

We loved the view from the terrace spectacular and the good location which was within easy walking distance of the Castle and town centre. Renovations, to what is a very old terraced building, were sensitively done. Welcome gifts of coffee, tea etc. were appreciated. The linen was very good.

There was extreme dampness on the ground floor of the house, especially the bedroom. The bed was actually wet and took several days to dry out despite a dehumidifier running day and night. The host quickly organised the maid to bring clean sheets but unfortunately it was the mattress which was still damp. The light on the lower staircase was broken and despite the host visiting the property and thereafter organising an electrician, the light was still not repaired when we left. My companion missed her footing and fell down the last step resulting in an injury to her right shoulder. There was no handrail between the first and second floor. It had a difficult corner at the top into the kitchen. As mentioned in another review, several of the doorways were very low and required warnings. The terrace was cluttered and dirty. The house is situated near the top of a hill and has 3 internal staircases and would therefore be unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. There were no instructions left for guests. Information regarding air conditioning, recycling, rubbish disposal, emergency services, local amenities etc. would have been helpful.

We stayed for 6 nights and everything we needed was available. Lovely clean and spacious accommodation.

Stairs - not a fault of the property (we knew they were there) more a fault of our age!
