"Lovely, roomy, stylish base for a perfect family holiday."

9.0

Alice's Nest is the perfect base for a family holiday, with plenty of space. The decor is very smart, stylish and comfortable, with comfortable seating both upstairs and downstairs for up to 6 people, along with dining for 6 upstairs, downstairs and on the spacious balcony. Views from the balcony are wonderful. Bedrooms (one double downstairs, one double and one twin upstairs) are with aircon which for our stay was essential due to very warm daytime and night time temperatures. A slight problem with a little noise from one unit was fixed by Rosaria and her technician within 12 hours of reporting it - great service! Two clean and modern shower rooms gave ample space for our group of 4 adults and two teens. Kitchen was really well equipped with everything required, including a washing machine in an outside room. The pool in the complex was absolutely amazing - very clean and with great views to the lake - and we often had the place to ourselves. Little cafe 5 minutes walk opposite the castle was a lovely place to visit. Town centre is a 15 minute walk and lake is a further 10 minute walk with great watersport and beach options. Walking in the area is fine going downhill, but it is longer going uphill especially in the heat! Ferries from Padenghue not frequent, but great for Sirmione, Desenzano and Mannerba.

Really can't fault anything - except it was very hot when we travelled in August and sometimes the living spaces got quite warm so the downstairs living and dining space was useful in the heat of the day as it was a bit cooler and had an effective ceiling fan - as well as frequent dips in the pool!
