Blue Viking Luxury Cabin

The facilities are very good, having everything for a group of people to stay. Stairs to the upper floor are very steep. There are two large bedrooms upstairs but no bathroom.

The cabin was spacious and comfortable. We were two families totalling nine people in total. We had plenty of space to have privacy and also be all together to eat and socialise. The amenities are great with the hot tub, sauna and games in the garage. The cabin is in a fantastic position up a private track/estate with an elevated position so the view was great. We were very lucky on our four days at the cabin as we saw the northern lights every night.

Our stay at the Blue Viking Luxury Cabin was wonderful. The location is a perfect home base for travel to the Golden Circle and Southeast as well as easy day trips to Reykjavik. Being a little ways outside of Selfoss made it easy to grab provisions but escape the light pollution, and there’s nothing more incredible than getting to watch the aurora from a cozy sauna with a large glass picture window. The cabin itself is very spacious and comfortable and felt like home in no time. There were six of us, three couples, and we always had a place to relax and retreat to. No need to pack slipper socks as the warm floors are a real treat. The hot tub was the cleanest hot tub I’ve ever seen in a rental home, and as mentioned, the sauna, with both steam and dry options, became a daily ritual. Blue Viking is well appointed for meal preparation. We spent eight days there and made several meals, and there’s a good selection of spices and basic ingredients, such as olive oil and condiments, which made cooking a breeze for us. Some previous guests have posted reviews about issues with the gate, but this issue has largely been resolved by the use of a dedicated cell phone that guests can use to open/close the gate when needed. Our host, Sirryi, was very responsive in opening the gate for us promptly upon our initial arrival and in answering a question we had about the sauna.

My reason for rating the Blue Viking 9 out of 10 is only because everyone in our group is tall and so we needed longer beds, which meant two of the couples stayed in the upstairs rooms, which could propose a challenge for some people when having to go up and down the stairs to use the facilities. This wasn’t an issue for our group but possibly could be for others.

Great communication from host, great location, fantastic views, space, comfort and facilities. Underfloor heating, sauna, hot tub, games room, television all appreciated and good.

If very picky some door locks difficult, oven slow (user error?), lighting/switches confusing and no jets in hot tub but nothing that really caused a problem or detracted from our stay.

The proximity to Silfra made it ideal for diving there, plus it's close to Selfoss making it easy to get groceries. The place itself is well stocked and very clean.

Amazing place to stay. Went to Iceland with a large group with kids and this was the perfect place. Location wise it allowed access to the Golden Triangle and relatively close to Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. The power also went out for some reason but the owner was very responsive and got the power up and running by the time we returned. The kids loved the place so much they wished they actually spent more time at the house!

The gate to get to the property is great bc it provides extra security but also inconvenient bc you have to call the property manager every time you go in or out

We loved our stay at Blue Viking Luxury Cabin, there were 8 of us and it was very comfortable. There was plenty of towels and also shampoo/body wash/Conditioner. Also some kitchen products such as coffee pods/lots of tea/herbs and spices. We also got to use a gas BBQ which was ace and Gas supplied. The Sauna and Hot Tub were lovely also.
