Villa Rosemada, Mondello

Great location. Large house, big garden, friendly owner, quiet and peaceful, house very well equipped.

Where do l begin in attempting to describe our stay at the Villa Rosemada. To start; the pictures you see in the profile are in no way representative of the villa in real life. The villa itself is not an individual home, rather it is a smaller villa adjacent to the main property where the owner and his family reside. The large garden you see in the main photo is not open to you; this is the garden the family use and is out of bounds to those hiring the villa. Inside the villa is like entering a time warp. There are no blinds or curtains as we would know them on any of the windows. The windows are covered by what can only be described as a piece of cloth, which is see through and offers no privacy whatsoever; even in the bathroom area. There is a TV in both the bedroom and living room, however neither seemed to work. The furniture is dated and uncomfortable as was the bed we spent the night in. The front door to the property is literally held in place by some sort of magnet and key and can again literally be pushed in with very little effort. There was no sense of safety or security at the villa. The garden was shabby, garden furniture rusty and parasols torn and tattered. The worst part of the garden was the pool area. The pool did not look as though it had been used in some time and was full of debris, dirt and other liquids (see attached photo). When asked re this, the owner stated he “may or may not clean the pool”. Considering this was the main selling point it was totally unacceptable. The most worrying thing about the property was the fact the owner has three dogs, all of whom can access your areas. One of the dogs is an aggressive Alsatian dog which ran to the gate when we returned to the villa, acting as a guard dog to the property. I have no doubt that had myself and my partner entered through the gates we would have been attacked by this dog.

Beautiful views, comfy beds and Dario was very helpful with suggestions and advise. The pool is a lovely bonus. The kitchen was well equipped and there are plenty of seating areas around the garden so you can enjoy the sun and the stunning views at every time of day.

The gate we were told to shut to keep the owner's dogs out didn't seem to do the job, so the dogs did get into the garden and left us a few surprises. Dario was quick to arrange for it to be cleaned up once we raised it, but if you don't like dogs this property isn't for you, as there doesn't seem to be a reliable way of keeping the dogs out of the garden area.

The property was bigger than expected. We had a lot of space, a lot of places where you could sit and relax. The home is nicely decorated and wooden which makes it really cozy. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet.
