Amalfi Dream Charming House

The view from the house was AMAZING!! Antonio was a great host, made sure we had everything we needed. Comfortable and spacious property, the location is perfect. We very much enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend the property!

This property is set in the lovely village of Pontone, which feels much more authentic than most of the busy, chaotic coastal towns. Here life seems slow and relaxed and it makes a good base to explore the Amalfi coast for anyone who wants to stay somewhere calmer but explore the beautiful areas. The property was clean and comfortable, with a lovely view looking down towards Amalfi and the terrace was a great asset for us. Antonio was very friendly, helpful and always happy to answer questions.

To get to the property, you have to climb a good number of rather steep steps and I must say that I was happy to see that Antonio also seemed out of breath when he got to the top and not just me. As such, the property might not be suited to people who are very unfit (although this is probably true for most of the Amalfi coast, which is very steep). Expect to walk a fair bit to get to places. We walked to Amalfi and also Ravello several times. However I’m so glad we stayed here away from the hectic coastal towns that did not feel at all relaxing. There are also some great walks in this area.

The property was well-maintained, the views were exceptional, the beds were very comfortable, and there was plenty of room to move around. The property is well stocked with everything you need to cook a meal (including coffee for the morning) or take a shower. We especially enjoyed the patio in the evenings to sit in the outdoor living area and have a glass of wine overlooking the beautiful view.  Antonio, the host was extremely hospitable. He took care of everything that we needed taken care of. He arranged transportation, showed us everything about the house that we needed to know, gave us directions and instructions, as well as recommendations for food and travel. We enjoyed walking to Blu Bar every morning for coffee and fresh bread and had dinner at both local restaurants, San Giovani and Antico Borgo. It’s quite a hike to walk down to Amalfi and back, as well as up to scala, or Ravello, but it was absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend staying in Pontone if you want to experience a true Italian way of life. (You may need to speak un poco Italiano.)

We realize that there’s no clothes dryer, and all the towels and sheets are air dried. But the towels were a bit hard from being air dried, which, as Americans, we aren’t used to and prefer soft, plush towels when we get out of the shower. The property could probably use some new bath towels and sheets.  mind you, this is being extremely nitpicky. This did not hinder our stay one bit. 

The view of Amalfi was to die for. Initially, we thought there were too many steps but soon got accustomed to the walk from the Blu Bar, which is a short walk from the bus. The Blu Bar has bus tickets for 1.40e per ride. Great reataurants a short walk away. Antonio was a great host and gave us lots of local information.

The place is absolutely magnificent. It is located within walking distance to several attractions: Amalfi, Ravello, and trails nearby. The facilities are flawless, Antonio has helped us in everything we needed. Perfect vacation!
