Il Sassetto

Easily walkable into the old town/Sassi. Parking at entrance of property. Comfortable spacious apartment with everything we needed including essential air con. Hosts were very friendly and provided a plentiful quantity of breakfast food and drink for our stay and were available to give any help or answer questions.

Shower is serviceable but a bit of a tight squeeze

Absolutely the BEST Casa Vacanze in Matera, even in Puglia. After spending two weeks in Puglia, we FINALLY could have real rest here in Il Sasseto with so much hospitality. Must go Matera, and MUST stay in Il Sassetto.... Easy parking on the ground of the same building, few steps away from Sassi, and spotless clean with fully equipped kitchenette.....as well as lovery foodies from the host.....etc....Strongly recommend!!

The apartment was spacious and super clean and comfortable. We liked having the outdoor space on the terrace to enjoy some of the delicious snacks that Sonia left for us.

We absolutely loved the apartment as soon we we entered, so modern, clean safe and Rosa and Sonia , mother and daughter, beautiful people so welcoming The Apartment is on two levels with living downstairs and mezzanine sleeping area, spacious , quiet, safe parking right outside front door, a 4 minute walk to centre if Matera and the Sassi below about 8 mins, could not be better for those with a car as staying in the Sassi itself means walking with suitcases up and down cobbled roads after dropping your car in inconvenient plces Rosa and Sonia had left us enough “ breakfast “ ( plus lunch and dinner!) for an army not two people! All absolutely delicious , cakes, savoury items , drinks , , juices, breakfast croissants and pastries , water for an army , , it was so generous of them and very much appreciated by my husband and I , thanks so much Rosa and Sonia The apartment was quiet , we slept very well and loved the position

Absolutely nothing

My wife and I spent our August 2023 vacation in Italy. Our journey included 5 stays in different places. I can say Il Sassetto was the best. We had four nights here, visited Matera and driving around the area, Alberobello, Polignano a Mare, Monopoli. The apartment is very spacious, a well equipped kitchenette, it has a balcony with a beautiful view of the Sassi, which is located 300 meters away. We met Rosa at our arrival. The fridge was loaded with everything we needed for our breakfast, plus a lot of pastries, homemade cookies, plenty of everything. Parking is right under your balcony, we used the car during the day, put the chain, didn’t have any problem parking back at our return. Air conditioning doing a good job, since the outside temperature during our stay was very high. Highly recomend.

It’s central to everything and in the heart of the old town—3 minutes walking. SUPER clean with every amenity!!!

it was a lovely apartment and Sonia and her mother had left lots of different pastries and fresh croissants for our breakfast . We had a lovely time in the apartment and also very quiet and great location to centre only 2 min walk to the old town .

This is a perfect place if you will visit the historic city of Matera. The appartment is rather large, even if you are 5 people. We were only 2 and had more space than needed. Only the bathroom is a little on the smaller side. The owner Sonia has equipped the appartment with everything you need. We had more food than we could eat and there were towels, soap, shampoo, wifi connection etc. Sonia mother, Rosa, was there when we arrived and gave us some introduction to the appartment and to Matera, so the welcome was perfect. There was a free parking in front of the appartment, so everything was fine. Soina also booked a restaurant table for us annd some friends in a good local restaurant. This appartment is just outside the historical city center, so in a few minutes you are there. Being a little outsite the historical city gates also means that parking and transport is easier.

The shower is only suitable for rather slim persons. We managed well and are happy, but not everyone would easily fit.

The apartment is very centrally and conveniently located, and at the same time extremely quiet. It is equipped with everything for a very comfortable stay for a few days. The host was very attentive and quick to answer all questions.

One should be aware, if there are any mobility issues, that the bed is in the loft where you get by a staircase, while everything else is downstairs.
