Everything was great. The location was perfect, at the foot of the old village. The views are astounding. Make sure to go through the little door in the village square to find a hidden terrace over the gorge. Note that during the week only one restaurant is open. If you go to the door of the Tana dell'Orso, there is a sign saying which restaurant is open on which day.

Like other reviews mention, the old town is a ghost town. It's very empty. We didn't mind that though and had a great time exploring the narrow streets and stairs.

Barrea is a beautiful town. The apartment was easy to find and central to the village. Great views from the bedrooms over the lake.

The shower recess was very slow to drain. As they state there were no basic condiments such as salt or pepper which was disappointing as we planned to cook. Oven was not working.
