La Chiocciola

The apartment is right on the main street in Manarola. It was well equiped on two levels with a winding staircase between the bedroom above and kitchen/dining below.

Understand that everywhere in Cinque Terre means steps and climbing. That is true of this location and apartment, as well. It would not be the place for anyone with mobility issues.

Wonderful location. Easy to find; easy to get there. Was exactly as described in listing so no surprises. Place was clean and air conditioning was appreciated. It was small but our party of three spent most of our time out and about in the beautiful Cinque Terre anyway, and didn't need spacious living quarters. Was a perfectly adequate home nase. Would certainly stay again.

It was small and the interior stairs were very steep, but the listing described it accurately so we knew what to expect going in. A couple of basic kitchen items were not supplied (no spatula, no kitchen washcloths or drying towels) that would have helped, but for the most part, it was sufficiently stocked.

Amazing location in Manarola. Very close to train station. Short walk to coast and great restaurants. Was cute and seemed recently updated. Was happy to have a washing machine.

Housekeeping appeared to have overlooked cleaning the bathroom. Specifically the area around the toilet and the toilet itself. Smelled badly of urine. I had to clean it myself to make it comfortable for us to stay. Shower drain was backed up and so we had to take very quick showers to prevent overflow. I reported it to manager, but it was not fixed during our stay. It is a king size bed, but they used two twin size sheets which came loose and was not comfortable. Needs appropriately sized linens for the bed. No comforter was used to make the bed. When I located one in the small closet there was a very large stain on it. It would have been appreciated if owner provided some simple instructions about connecting to the internet and use of the washing machine.

The trip switch repeatedly went off if too many appliances used. Not a major problem but no house instructions so had to contact host to restart electricity. Loo flush broken Sharp knife and teatowel would be useful Sofabed uncomfortable (slept on the floor!)

The location was very good. The property was clean. It was comfortable.

There wasn’t anything I did not like. we had a problem with leaking water in the bathroom but it was not a huge issue. It was not taken care of until after we were gone.

Location was good and easy, not a lot of climbing which made it easier with big luggage. The town was the least happening and less interesting than the others but still nice. The AC worked fine.

The apt. was lacking in table or luggage rack in the bedroom. There is no place to put luggage in bedroom, just have to open suitcases on the floor. The room is charmless. The bathroom is lacking towel hooks, there was only one hook to hang 3 towels or more. And there is no place to put toiletries whatsoever. There is no surface in the bathroom or bedroom for anything other than the two little bedside tables. We had to move a chair up from the lower level just to put jackets and purse on. Also there is no place in the shower to put shampoo, no shelf at all so products have to be on the tiny shower floor and you have to awkwardly bend down with no space to reach and use shampoo etc. No hand soap provided in the bathroom and no laundry soap in the kitchen. The shower pressure was extremely low and it quickly ran out of warm water. In general, the apartment has no charm and offers nothing in the way of conveniences in the room.
