"A great house in a good location with accommodating owners."

10.0

It was beautiful and well appointed. The tub is wonderful and kitchen had everything i needed. The neighborhood is good and safe, with nearby cafes and a grocery sure that are easily walkable. The bus stop is maybe a 5 minute walk and train is about 10.

My only complaints are that the shower controls are a bit complicated for hot water. And it works have been boxes to have access to tv channels- which of there were any i didn't find them. There is an Apple TV but i didn't have my login info available.

"Truely a japanese tradition stay"

9.0

the quality of the Machiya was very good. Location was good but was a bit far to walk from the subway, 10mins. Neighbourhood was quiet generally.

You still can hear the train passing by. the lower level floor is concrete, but there's no felt on the chairs. Dragging the chairs made a lot of noise. The Exit sign on the upper level is so bright and you can't turn it off. It's really annoying when you sleep. Kitchen Sink Faucet is very loose.

exactly as the pictures. Modern

1) there is no full - body mirror in the house at all 2) there is no cover or curtain behind the gate at the front or the house door. people are able to see through everything during the night when the lights are on inside

"Cool experience but not worth the money considering the lack of housekeeping performance."

6.0

Having the house to ourselves and the traditional Japanese nature of the property

Certain rules were not communicated effectively, housekeeping did not clean the house only partially replenished some items. I had written a note in English and Japanese for a specific request of more water and coffee but was ignored despite being told on the phone that the request was honored. also housekeeping did. it clean any dishes.

"Beautiful garden, amazing utility, heated floor and awesome bathtub."

9.0

Traveled with wife and a 2-year-old. check-in was very close to Kyoto station, with helpful English-speaking staff to assist you with the process. This means as soon as you arrive Kyoto through Shinkansen, you can just drop off your luggage and go. The luggage delivery to accommodation is free before 3:oopm Accommodation utility was great. Although we didn't use the cooking utility, we did use the washing machine/dryer and it worked charm, especially we packed light and has been in the rain for a couple of days. There is also a spacious cloth hanger for those who concern about making noises from the drying machine at night. Amazing and smart bathroom that can consistently maintain your bath temperature. Took us non-Japanese a long time to figure out how to adjust it, but it was a great feature once you figured it out. Great zen-garden view from your deep bath, very relaxing. Bathroom can be instantly heated as well. Floor heating in dinning and living area. We loved lying on the heated tatami and just stare blankly into the beautiful zen-garden.

Maybe they were too busy but the luggage can only be delivered to the accommodation around 8:00pm that day. This is usually not a problem but we had a 2-year-old, which means we had to pack more unnecessary weight into our bag while walking around Kyoto. It is a little far away from everything. Coffee provided for single use only despite we stayed there for 2 nights. There is no room service and I think if we needed more we had to pick it up at the check-in (20min walk from where we stayed). Emergency exit light was very bright from our bedroom, my wife did find it difficult to sleep.
