"Beautiful Riad in Medina"

10.0

Located in the Medina, the riad is an oasis of peace in the old city chaos. Marrakech’s old town is picturesque and very crowded, full of merchants and boutiques, motorcycles, tourists, donkeys, and cats, but once you arrive at the accommodation, everything becomes calm and spacious—like an oasis of well-being, with a very comfortable rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a mint tea under the open sky. Omar, the owner of the riad, was extremely helpful. He offered to arrange the airport transfer, which I highly recommend—otherwise it’s nearly impossible to find the riad in the labyrinth of Marrakech. The value for monay we paid is excelent. To visit the main attractions in Marrakech, 2–3 days are enough. But I suggest booking excursions either through Booking.com or directly at local agencies in Marrakech. They are inexpensive, informative, and well organized. You can choose trips to the Atlas Mountains, where you’ll visit charming Berber villages and hear stories about the traditions of these gentle people who live in simple conditions yet are happy. Or you can take a trip to Essaouira, with its sandy beach on the Atlantic coast.

Keep in mind that Medina looks very old, with narrow, dusty streets—sometimes the smell isn’t very pleasant, and there are no trash bins. But you get used to it.

Well located, lots of space, terrace, oasis of calm in the middle of the medina.

Might have been quite difficult to locate the first time if we were not met at the airport - but that's the medina for you!

Nicely decorated, clean, spacious, quiet, and the kitchen reasonably equipped . They offer transfer service which I recommend specially if you arrive at night as it is not easy to find the place.

Shower's water pressure low.

Although it was somewhat challenging to locate – navigating the dark, winding streets typical of the area – it was an unforgettable experience. Staying in a real Riad was magical. The ambiance and charm of the place captivated us from the moment we arrived. We especially loved the open roof and the charming terrace, which provided a wonderful atmosphere to relax. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we could only enjoy one night there, and I wish we could have stayed longer. Overall, we loved our time at Riad les Épices and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of the Medina.

To find the place :)

"Lovely place but let down by locals"

7.0

The riad was lovely, lots of space for everyone.

Our taxi driver made the mistake of asking a local where the apartment was as the taxi couldn't go right to it. I had the location up on maps and was confident being able to follow it, and told the local that we didn't need his help finding the place. He insisted he's just a local not a tour guide so we reluctantly followed him, it was a 2 min walk. We were met by Smail who was giving us the keys to the Riad, and the local was then hassling us for money with his friend right outside the door while Smail watched and did nothing. We offered him 10DH and they laughed and saw a 200 note and asked for that instead. We refused and went into the Riad, we then had people banging on the door for the next two nights at 2/3am. I messaged Smail about this who didn't respond and then replied on our last day to say sorry he didn't see the message and he hopes it doesn't happen again. The wifi also dropped out intermittently, and the main shower head was broken in both bathrooms. I will definitely return to Morocco again but not to Marrakech.

The idea of having just for ourselves the entire place was great, we had a nice time within the group. It is well located for those who wants to be close to the old city.

It' s an old building who would need some renovation, but maybe this is its charm 🙂.
