"Kyoto's Hidden Gem"

7.0

The authenticity is unparallel! We really felt like we were in real Japanese house. It feels like traveling in time and staying in a museum :) Having a washer and drier is a HUGE boon. I would suggest this place for a group of young people. Don't forget to check out Ebata yakiniku- super frendly, cool local environment and fantastic food.

Three things: 1. STAIRS- seriously slow and carefull up and down those...not for the meek. 2. Toalet and Bathroom are 'outside'- only few steps from the living room through the inner garden. Super modern, just 'outside'. 3. Everything is on the floor or super low. You will sit and sleep on the floor.

7.0

"Lovely traditional Japanese townhouse"

10.0

It was lovely to stay in traditional Japanese town house, with tatami rooms, a mini garden and a heated table. There are lots of restaurants and a 7-11 nearby, and we found it a good base for getting buses to various parts of Kyoto. It was great to be able to do our laundry and relax in the self-reheating bath.

The downside of a traditional house is that you have to go downstairs and outside to get to the bathroom. But it’s worth it!
