Private Onsen, beautiful property

The access was great. It's right in front of the bus stop and the station Oohiradai. You can't miss it.  The property is really beautiful and well maintained.  The owner, Ms. Manami, is nice and easy to reach when assistance is needed.  There is everything you need in the house, and basically, you just need food.  Unfortunately, it was raining and we could not enjoy the BBQ, but the hotplate in the kitchen allowed us to cook the meat we purchased.  You can enjoy a warm bath outside or inside, as you please.  The rocks/flooring near the open-air bath can be very slippery once wet, so please be careful and don't let the kids or elderly run around.  The garden was bigger than expected, and you can make new friends when spending time outside (frogs, gigantic spiders, little crabs, you name it).

The check-in process was just a bit tedious. Here is a little explanation, so I hope that you won't struggle upon arrival: You will receive the gate key box code in advance.  The day before arrival, you will receive another code for the front door. Then you need to enter manually the name, address (etc.), take a picture of the ID card for each guest, and take a video of the group with a tablet placed inside for this purpose.  Before checking in, please double check if you have booked for the Japanese room (Nihon-kan) or the Main House (Hon-kan). Once inside, the Japanese Room will be on your left and the Main House will be on your right. Keep in mind that if you have booked for the Japanese room, you don't need another code as your room will be the one on the left and no other code is required to get in. I guess that the 3rd code will only be necessary if you booked for the Main House.  In a few words, meeting in person to get the keys and instructions would have been easier. I know that it is an extra task for the staff, but I think that it is necessary. Back then, I managed about 30 properties in Tokyo, so I know what I am talking about. But still, we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. Thank you for everything!

The villa was truly exceptional, it felt like staying in a historic site but with all modern amenities! The area is nice and secluded and quite quiet and peaceful at night. The traditional japanese decore and style was extremely memorable and waking up in such a style was a nice experience.

Unfortunately the onsen was not working when we arrived due to issues with the onsen provider, we had to make do with hot water. Additionally, the area is pretty far and a bit tough to get to, but accessible via public transport. There aren't too many stores and restaurants about.

It’s next to a graveyard

The historic house and private onsen made this property a standout. It took a bit to understand the various rooms but then the place became very charming. We all voted it our favorite place we stayed on a 3 week trip.

For a longer stay the limited number of restaurants would be problematic.
