The location is a short walk on either the road or the beach to shops and many restaurants. The beach is right out your back door! We enjoyed the outside shower and lounge chairs. It was convenient having two bathrooms and the bed was comfortable. We did not use the stove but it was clean and quite new as was the refrigerator. A 5 gallon jug of drinking water was provided and extra towels were requested and brought by Lupita.

We didn't like the flood lights that stayed on in the backyard area at night. This rental had more visible security compared to other homes along the beach. Some folks may prefer this and others not.

What you get with La Chozita del Mar is direct access to a stunning, swimmable sandy coastline that stretches for miles in both directions. You share the beach with fishermen casting their nets in the mornings, flocks of pelicans and other seabirds, and a few local families picnicking on the weekends. (Yes, there is an unattractive security fence, but we just opened the gates and sat outside it.) If you want cafés, bars, and so forth, it’s a ten minute walk along the road or the beach. There is traffic noise from the road, but you don’t notice it on the beach side of the house. The house is spacious and clean, with air-con in the bedroom and good plumbing, but somewhat lacking in kitchen equipment and linens. We didn’t care, and expect if you contacted the owner he would provide whatever more you felt you needed. He was very responsive when he thought we had a problem with something. We had an issue with checking in because the only contact is by Internet/Whatsapp, and our phone plan didn’t work with Telcel, the only provider in Celestún.

It was on a beautiful beach. The sunsets were incredible.

The kitchen sink had hardly any water, and the drain leaked.

Stunning location, very helpful owners . The sunsets and great for a swim. The inside is basic but functional and we had a great 5 days. Check out the boat trips to see the flamingoes and the nature reserve.

It was very hot inside but fortunately had an AC bedroom and a nice sitting area under trees. A very basic house but had most things necessary for a stay of several days. Limited cookware made preparing meals difficult. The saving grace of this place is its proximity to the beach as one could be in the water in a matter of moments. For us this was paramount as there was heat wave with extreme temperatures.

To have a house for ourselves. Access to the beach.

House without charm. Only basic equipment. Fenced like a prison. The beach, at least in the December-January time frame is all but attractive on the gulf of Mexico side of the peninsula.

Quiet and helpful host. Provide the useful tourist information.

Water from the shower is a little slow.

The beach is very beautiful. Restaurants are very near, just a walk away on the beach, with very good food. The house has parking space, so the car stays in the property while you are on the beach. The refrigerator is new and big. There is drinking water. There are tables and chairs for inside the house and for the beach, besides 4 beach loungers to enjoy the sun. There is an exterior shower, for you to rinse salt water before entering the house or to continue enjoying outside. Staff is very attentive and eager for you to enjoy your stay. The bedroom has a very good air conditioning, that is a priority on these climates. There is a tall palm tree that gives very good shadow on the beach, for the table and chairs, so you can enjoy your day relaxing on the beach.

We would suggest a shelve for the bathroom to put toothpaste and similar items, since the sink is too small. We would suggest checking regularly the shower head in the bathroom, because it was clogged with water deposits and very little water came out.

We were here for 5 days. The location to town and restaurants and on the beach was excellent. There were lots of plastic chairs for using in the home, on the patio and on the sand. There were 5 keys to lock doors, driveway and gate to beach. Most of the furnishings were new or newly refreshed so it was quite clean albeit very bare. Airconditioning in the one bedroom worked well. Fans all worked. Kitchen had utensils and dishes and several pans. Fridge was new and large.

There were 2 toilets but no toilet seats. There were no curtains for privacy in the living space which was viewable from the road straight through the house. We asked for a curtain but none was delivered. We used a blanket to cover the window. We were given 1 large towel and one small towel to share for 2 and although we asked for more, none were delivered. Kitchen has no toaster or kettle. Property manager dropped by each day unannounced which made for uncomfortable meetings as little privacy from the visit.
