Pukaki Lakeside Getaway NZ

Very nice and quiet place to relax. There is the House and the Cottage. We stayed at the smaller Cottage and it was perfect for us. The lake view was spectacular. Nice to meet the friendly dog Hari. Had fresh salmon sashimi lunch at Twizel. Visit to Mt Cook and hike at Hooker Valley Trail was so beautiful. Dropped by at The Heritage Hotel for some nice snack and coffee.

Location. Stunning views and facing the lake

There are 8 of us. 1. Toilet rolls were only 3 rolls. 2. Garbage plastic bags were only 4 pieces. Have to ask for extra pieces 3. A dog was wondering outside of the house. We are allergic to dogs

This is a very well presented lake side House with only one other cottage in close proximity. There was plenty of space (especially as we were only a couple) with outstanding veiws across the lake from the kitchen, lounge and 2 of the main Bedrooms. Kitchen was lager enough with an island with all you need to cook a meal. Both bathroom and shower room are reasonably large and to a high standard. Although we did have an issue with one of the drains not flowing, but was quickly sorted once we highlighted to the owner. The price does reflect the quality and location of the property but is definitely worth it.

Nothing to speak of, if you're looking for a place where you can just walk to the shops and local restaurants then this is not for you. It is a remote location and that is what makes this special

The view was superb. Great view of the lake. Great garden to walk around in. Great big space. Loved the light coming through the living room windows. How the windows framed the lake. It was like a postcard. Well equipped. Had everything we needed. We stayed in the House. If you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Didn't need to go to Mount John observatory to do star gazing (and pay $$$ for it). We could see the stars right from the porch (weather permitting). Great big TV with lots of channels. Kids liked it. Hari the dog (golden retriever) is super cute. He likes belly rubs. Gives very irresistible puppy dog eyes. I think he mainly comes by around dinner time (hoping for a snack). But don't feed him! Location is great if you want to go to Mount Cook area often for hiking. Also near to Twizel (for supermarkets, restaurants). Better than the very crowded and touristy Lake Tekapo. Owners also own the lavender farm down the road. The lavendar farm is worth a visit. Products are all manufactured there. Would stay here again.

Had to get used to the creaking in the wood structure. It is natural but for city folk like us it just needed some getting use to. My advice is to embrace it and embrace being close to nature.

The sensor light outside the main Bedroom came on during the night and was quite disturbing
