McAlister House - Queenstown Holiday Home

A nice old house. Very well furnished and equipped. Loved the gas fires in the living and dining rooms - we had some nice nights sat around these. House has lovely views across Queenstown and the lake. We enjoyed it very much.

The backyard, particularly the view of the mountains over the tops of the hedges. Off-street parking.

Cleanliness; we killed dozens of flies on arrival only to have more emerge from inside the house. Laundry was filthy, drawers were filled with junk, including a vape and charger. Open Panadol behind the TV, sticky surfaces in the kitchen. No cooling upstairs. Worn out beds and bedside tables, vanities etc, old furniture and decor. Proximity to city is seemingly great but it is a serious effort to walk up the hill from town...even for the fitter people. This should be marketed as a party house for the ski season. By no means luxurious or comfortable. The owner has quite an amount of junk in drawers that just need not be there. Oh, and the photo of the view in the ad, that's taken from a very small balcony off the master bedroom. Other than that, there is no view from the house.

A beautiful large comfortable house close to town.

The dryer was not working properly, there was lots of mixed communication.

Spectacular location overlooking the centre of town, with breathtaking snow-covered mountain views from every window. The house was quirky and full of character, with loads of room for our family of five.

The walk up the hill from town would be tough for anyone with any health/mobility issues but for us and our teenagers it just gave us the chance to burn off some calories from all the incredible food we ate. The bed in the main bedroom is probably due for replacement, it wasn’t very comfy.
