The location is very good for exploring this area, we went to the Runden bird sanctuary with a large puffin colony. It is a 5 minute walk to the ferry to Folkestad, which is free for footpassengers. We hiked to Galten and took some awesome pictures there. The ferry to the Geirangerfjord from Helsylt is about an hours drive. The hostess and her husband were very pkind and welcoming. The room has a separate entrance, with its own toilet and sink. It is located next to the kitchen. We could use their kitchen (inclusing some spices a forgot to buy) and bathroom. This bathroom (shower) was on the second floor in their house, but we knew that up front.
