The Homestead - a rural family retreat

Lovely old house, bit garden in rural location. Beds & bed linen excellent.

The cleanliness was not good. the toilet attached to the main bathroom was stained & dirty and the floor surrounding it stained. The pots & pans in the kitchen had not been cleaned and obviously been burnt dry, food left on a skillet. Dirt & crumbs in the utensil drawers. At $400 a night I expected it to have been cleaned thoroughly. The owner was not happy & did take photos also. The 'laundry was a disaster site, piles of children's toys, rubbish & the ironing board behind it all. There was no electric blanket on the main bed and with a 4o night it was needed. The owner did go out immediately and purchase one but that was on our 3rd night.

There was plenty of space for us all.

Two of the bedrooms only had thin net curtains, it would have been better to have had actual curtains in those rooms.

Homely and comfortable, great large grounds. Ideal family holiday home.

An excellent quiet and spacious home with plenty of outdoor grass area - had everything we needed. A short drive away from New Plymouth.
