Resolution Bay

Cabins in relatively remote Marlborough Sounds location. It's not 5-star resort territory but, in many ways. was more enjoyable than those. Everything we needed was there, and we cooked our own simple dinner. The verandah / lounge, fronting the main building, was a lovely vantage point. Lying on the jetty, after dark, star watching was one of many highlights.

The fact that we'd only booked to stay one night was a pain ... we'd all have loved to stay here longer.

This is a stunning place to stay. We just nipped over on a water taxi for one night so didn't do any of the walking tracks. That's definitely on the agenda for another trip. The resort is remote and you will feel like you've gone back in time. We had the three bedroom house up the hill and the views were to die for! We brought all our own food with us and a huge gas bbq was provided on our decking area. There's minimal internet or phone coverage - not a bad thing at all. Just be sure to download some music if you want to have a bit of background noise over a beer as the sun goes down. There is no TV/radio etc. There is a shop that sells very simple basics - I understand that you can also order food in advance but we didn't use that service. Simply paradise!

Might not be so fun on a wintery rainy day.

We loved the vintage style. Had a great nights sleep, next time we will stay longer.
