Mountain Adventure Spa Escape - Ohakune Home

The house location was perfect close to town and Turoa ski-field. Having four separate bedrooms was great considering we have 8 people which gave us all some separation. Kitchen area had everything we needed (except instructions on how to use the oven/stove). Spa was a favourite for all guests. The play park across the road was walking distance for the kids and there was plenty of on site parking. Two bathrooms and two toilets was also good for the number of guests. The games room was a hit with the kids, and allowed parents to socialise separately in a room with a door between. Great facilities in there too.

Bedrooms: All 3 x double beds were extremely uncomfortable for all couples and seriously need to be improved or upgraded for the price we paid - the mattresses were dirty and the owner needs to buy new beds with a proper bed base (not slat beds or hard wooden base), or topper pads need to be installed on each bed - but the mattresses seriously need replacing. This was the biggest disappointment as all guests woke with sore backs and little sleep. Extra blankets are needed in every bedroom given the cold climate in winter. There was only one spare double blanket in one bedroom. Laundry: With four adults and four kids staying three nights, and skiing, there was a huge laundry load with only a combined washing machine/drier (again with no instruction book) putting in wet towels alone took more than 4 hours and still weren't dry. This meant no washing could be done while you waited for the drier. For a house that sleeps 10 maximum, it needs a separate washing machine and a drier so that both washing and drying of clothes can be undertaken at the same time. Bathroom: One bathroom requires some maintenance to a shower head that kept falling down or squirts water directly at right angles to the shower wall, if you used full force. It appears to need a screw in the shower head bracket. The shower in the second bathroom was not clean. A good scrub would solve that problem. These are reasonably easy fixes and would make a good holiday into a great holiday. Most people just want a comfortable bed and a hot shower as a minimum on holiday. We were surprised there were no flannels included with the towels. This would be an easy extra to include. There was a dirty towel hanging behind the bedroom door from a previous occupant that the cleaners had missed. They need to check behind every door when cleaning.

The outdoor furniture was broken and the beds are extremely uncomfortable.

The lockbox code was changed in an email sent a week or so before arrival, without drawing attention to the change from the prior number. It was like several reminders I received before and after. I was out of contact for several days and had many emails when I got back into civilization. The latest one I received, either the day of arrival or before, didn't mention the lock box code. I didn't go back and read all of the prior ones, thinking the last in time would be the most accurate. So, for future reference, if the code is changed please draw attention to it and state it in the last email sent before arrival/

was looking abit tired ,bottom steep on bunks broken , spiderwebs on inside and outside of windows, no sugar and only 2 teabags

Perfect for the group. Big table was great.
