Red House- Historic center

Friendly host, communication excellent and clear instructions. Cute little house but feels spacious. Lovely downhill stroll to tourist area and cheap uber ride back. We felt very welcome with port, biscuits and coffee left by host.

Not that the owner can do anything about it, but there is road works right outside the door. They start very early in the mornings which can be loud. Also, they switched off the water twice whilst we were there in the mornings, which was something we didn’t know about. Be careful on the stairs, easy to trip if not careful. Overall, lovely little place.

We were very excited to stay 3 nights in Porto, but our flights from Athens were cancelled on Tuesday due to a national strike in Greece. The entire airport shut down and we couldn’t get out until Thursday night, which meant that we only had one night in this accommodation arriving very late, almost at midnight and having to check out at 11am. The accommodation was non refundable and of course no flexibility or understanding from the host. We were just told that it is not their fault. We could not change the dates due to the house being booked again by another guests. We asked if we could store our bags in the house until we were able to check-in into an alternative accommodation, but we were told this was not possible. I then pushed to leave the luggage there at least until 1pm, which was accepted with some hesitancy from the host, telling me not to make problems for her. In the end, we just checked out at 11am, and paid $25 euros to store our luggage elsewhere, so we could at least explore the city without bags. The accommodation was $450 euros for 3 nights, we are wearing the cost of the two unused nights.

The house is very old, and dark. There are two rooms, with small double beds, not comfortable for two adults sleeping in one bed together. The sofa is very hard to pull out and the mattress was dirty. If you are thinking to book for more than 4 people, do not as to sleep on the sofa is not great. Also if you pull out the sofa, you will lose the living area space completely. The washing machine was not working, could not be turned on. The house does not have any outside area, so on the good, sunny day, you will feel stuck in dark house. The road to the property is under construction, and even though it says is close to the historic centre, it takes a while to get there through few streets that were also under construction whole we were there. I would not bother booking this place.

It's enough beds for a family of 5 with 2 teenagers. 2 bathrooms is a huge advantage. The pillows is orthopedic and enough Qty's to chosse what is comfy for you. The place equipped perfect for cooking like you at home. The metro station is just around of corner, 2minutes of walking. The igrega da lapa is very closed. Great to walk to the city center.

We arrive late at night and our taxi can't get close to the apartment due to work on the street. It's great we didn't take the car cause there will no parking right now. Hope it will be done soon.

This was one of the most beautifully decorated accommodation we stayed in, in Portugal. With a perfect location to explore the city.

We had a rent a car, which we parked in the place explained by the owner of the property. However, our was towed away by the police, and the owners blamed us for it, not taking any responsibility for the expenses we faced to get the car back. Very disappointed with their approach, and dealing with the inconvenience we faced.

Francisca was a fantastic host, she did everything she could to accomodate our needs and help us. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and perfectly located, at walking distance from any point of interest and in any case a few minutes away from the Trinidad station.

Everything was perfect for us, but if you have mobility problems this may not be a good option for you as one of the bedrooms is upstairs.

Very nice house to let you feel welcome with beautiful interior design. Communication with host was also very good.

Cozy looking tiny house with its Genius Loci. Owner was really nice, making sure if we have everything we needed. Close to downtown.

Red House is a quaint place with loads of character. We had everything we could possibly need, and were welcomed with lovely sherry and cookies! Francisca was available to help at all times and very welcoming. Parked safely right by the door for our entire stay. Tiny Indian restaurant with great food right ons the corner. The place is nicely situated for walking in the center of Porto. We will definitely be back!

Not much. Be careful of the little step in the upstairs shower!
