Casa do Moinho

The apartment was good and the host was really helpful when we had any questions. She was understanding enough to let us do the check in earlier.

House was big and convenient. Kitchen well equipped. Interesting location: looks like very small village near Santa Cruz.

It was cold weather and temperature inside was acceptable, but not comfortable. One oil heater wasn't enough.

The house is bright and clean and very spacious for a family of 4. Susete is very helpful and friendly. She is very easygoing which makes us feel comfortable (like the majority of the people in Madeira).

The double bed is bit too small for us, but we are spoiled with our 220 cm wide bed back at home.

We were personally welcomed and the lady was very friendly. The house is big and has all rooms as described.

Unfortunately the state of the house was not as described. Starting with the terrace, there were glass splinters all over the place which we discovered being barefoot outside. Several things were broken but we weren't told (like walls, furniture etc). The garden was not maintained and we only had two plastic chairs outside. The beds were horrible, small, short and you heard and felt every single movement. The shower didn't work properly we only had warm water for about a minute so every shower ended with cold water. The couches were old and dusty and covered with some fabric to make up for it. The kitchen equipment was good but it wasn't clean, we used several things from the cupboard which we had to clean before using them. In the room where the fridge was, where cockroaches. Although the house is located in the mountains, it's not quiet as the dogs in the neighboring houses we're barking from dusk til dawn. All in all the house really needs some maintenance, some love and a little decoration. Wouldn't recommend staying there, we didn't feel at home at all.

Everything was great!

The house was very big and had everything we needed. There was a garden with furniture and lovely views to the mountains and to the sea. Although a little out of the centre of Santa Cruz and we didn't have a car there were plenty taxis costing about 5 euros which we took. The owners went above and beyond, giving us a tour of Santa cruz and showing us the shops, markets and places of interest. They were very lovely people with hearts of gold 💛

We didn't like having to leave Madeira and especially when told that we would be missing their festival that weekend.
