Luazinha - Lovingly renovated Fisherman's cottage

The location is superb overlooking the Ria Formosa. Beautiful, especially in the early morning and evening light. The cottage is very quaint/rustic and has most things that you need. It has a lovely, cosy feel to it and is very authentic. Amazing thick walls!! The peace and quiet is simply awesome. A very relaxing stay and far from the summer crowds, although supermarkets, boat trips, etc, are a mere 10 minutes away. The seafood restaurant at the end of the road is exceptional and a true local haunt. You can't help but slip into super zen mode!

I do understand the excessive rain that the area has had & understand that it is an old cottage with very thick walls, but the musty smell was a constant over 6 days. We were out a lot, so it wasn't a major issue, but the management could supply some form of air-fresheners maybe, especially as I had specifically mentioned the musty smell at the time of booking (from a previous review)? We purchased incense & a plug-in wallfreshener, which helped slightly. Hopefully, the musty smell will disappear after a few days of higher temperatures. I don't normally like to mention negatives in my reviews, but I believe management could definitely do something about it, considering there have been previous reviews mentioning it. There is also mold on the ceiling in the bathroom (very easy to remove before a stay). Walking into fresh-smelling & clean holiday accommodation is essential & goes a long way towards your overall impression. Easily remedied!

Was not very well stocked. We had to purchase trash bags etc.

filthy. moldy. disgusting. may have been lovingly restored - it has not been maintained. severe water damage. black mold. heat does not work. wood for the fireplace was soaking wet. both bedrooms were so moldy I could not sleep in there - my dog refused to even enter the back bedrooms they were so moldy. absolutely disgusting. do not stay here! public health hazard - confused by their rating - zero stars

moldy. heater did not function properly. house was part of a compound - kitchen and bedroom had the main entry road - so cars drove by the bedroom window and kitchen window. no privacy. everything was filthy. owner took over an hour to meet me to let me in. they charged 50 euros for the pet fee - rip off. they wanted 210 euros as a cash deposit when I arrived - no mention of that - felt like extortion. women offered to give me a ride back to pedras del rei for $35 euros - taxi fare is well under $10 euros - rip off. price gouge. I actually added an extra night so my laundry was able to dry - and the caretaker refused to add the extra night to my card - so she had me get into her filthy car and drove me to a gas station to use the atm well telling me a story about her parents dog dying - bizarre. after I gave her the cash she finally agreed to call me a taxi - who charged me double fare to get back to pedras del rei. rip off from beginning to end. do not stay in this squalor! photos are deceptive! no mention of 210 euro security deposit. 50 euro pet fee is a rip off. filthy. oh and the caretaker who drove me to the atm in their filthy car was coughing the entire duration - I got horribly ill - I booked this thinking it was contactless check in. if you want a caretaker who rips you off and coughs on you - and you want to freeze all night in mold - stay here. there is a blue house next door that seemed far better maintained and more isolated - if you want to stay in the area - stay there. this was disgusting.
