Old and strange kitchen and bathroom equipment , bugs, and suspicious sound from the roof 🤔 Uncomfortable beds

The location is beautiful

The facility was worn down, the air conditioning did not work, and was not even connected to a hole to the outside. This hole was open, which would allow rodents or bugs to enter. We contacted someone about the air conditioner and they said sorry it was a very hot day.  upon our return from dinner, my husband put the kitchen light on, and there were cockroaches on the counter. Needless to say between the air conditioning not working, and the cockroaches we did not sleep the entire first night. We found a hotel in Santa Cruz near the airport and had a fantastic nights, sleep, and a clean air-conditioned facility. I am very sad. We had this experience, and I hope they fix the problems we feast.

Perfect placement, car parking and access to the sea at hand, comfortable and plenty of facilities.

The couch in the main room is not quite comfortable to watch the TV. And perhaps a bit expensive, although I can understand the season and the economic situation worldwide at this time.

The only good thing was the location.

The cab driver who dropped us off winced when we told him where we were staying and said “That place is terrible, I can’t believe they get away with it!” We can’t either! As noted on countless other reviews across several platforms, Casa Atlantida offers a wildly overpriced basic room that is hot and stuffy and full of cockroaches and ants. When we contacted the local caretaker we were told that this is “normal” although we have spent 2 weeks traveling around the Azores and have not seen this version of “normal” elsewhere. The building is also next to a public picnic area that has large, loud gatherings late into the evening so it doesn’t seem private or quiet. As noted elsewhere, the curtains are all sheer, so you can see everything inside all of the units. When we arrived we saw our fully naked neighbor, just trying to enjoy his vacation inside what he assumed was a private room, but actually everyone can see right through the curtains from the outside, in the evening. On top of all of this, they have the gall to charge 25 Euros PER PERSON upon arrival as a fee, although no one could explain what the fee is for. Was is for the giant dead cockroach in the middle of our kitchen? Please take our advice and stay anywhere but Casa Atlantida!

It was right in front of the sea. It was spacious and clean

We had to throw the toilet paper into the bin, like everywhere else on the island. But no one came to clean and empty the bin in 5 days. It was awfully full

Perfect location on the Island, few restaurants and bars around, house itself is on the vulcanic beach.

Ocean front

They did not have any instructions on how to work the appliances. The hot water heater was turned off and I didn’t figure that out until the last night and they offered to come out, but it is a bit ridiculous that no one went to the unit before I checked in to make sure everything was up and running. It was too late when they offered to come out - by the time they came out and turned it on and the water heated - I would have been asleep

Marvellous location, right by the sea and half a minute away from a small natural pool with access to the water, for swimming. The property is quite basic but has large windows (double glazing) with wonderful views. The beds were comfortable, and the equipment reasonably adequate. It was clean.

Some very basic equipment is totally missing: there is not a single sofa in the house (only a plastic one outside, very useful, and an extra bed poorly disguised as a sofa, in the living area). This is a basic shortcoming. Also, the lighting is very poor: there is not enough light at night to read in the living room, or to cook. We had to keep moving the bedroom's lamps from place to place. The oven works with gas (dangerous) and worked poorly, impossible to use it for cooking. One of the showers kept getting cold (but before we run out of hot water). Hot water is also insufficient for a group of 6, it was barely enough for the 3 of us. The outdoor private area, protected from the dominant winds, was very much appreciated, but is totally unkempt and could be much better equipped.
