I liked everything: the location, the equipment of the house, and the hospitable host. There was absolutely everything that could be said in the house. The owner Jose has thought out everything down to the smallest detail. Wonderful local area. The owner is always ready to help. I was very touched by the compliment. Thank you for the wine: thin, light Laurelello, with well-defined aromatics. Thank you, Jose.

We had a very nice stay in Casa do Chafariz! Everything was really clean and tidy when we arrived. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, some fruits, pastries and even breakfast for the next morning. Jose is a warm welcoming host, being there for any questions or advice, but giving you all the privacy you need. The house is small but very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, the airconditioning working just fine without being too noisy.

Just to mention one small point of criticism: the bed was just fine, we slept ok (thanks to the silient airco!) but maybe the matress wasn't top class. For people suffering from back problems this might be an issue. For us it was no problem at all. If you want to go out and have a drink at night, there's no pub or bar nearby, so you have to go by bike or by car. This didn't bother us at all, as we don't mind driving a few minutes and the beautifull garden is also lovely for stargazing!

Casa do Chafariz is perfect in every way! The host, Jose, is so thoughtful and gracious and welcoming. He wants every guest to be comfortable and he has created an amazing and unique place to stay near Viana do Castelo. We wrote our friends and family after arriving that we had found a piece of paradise in Portugal! Jose communicated with us immediately and often, offers transportation to and from Viana, and so much more! And his place is just like him… comfortable and welcoming and thoughtful!

We loved everything! The grounds and garden, the view, the host, the space in our place, the solar electricity, the quiet. It was perfect!

Our experience at Casa do Chafariz was truly exceptional! José was an outstanding host who meticulously prepared the property with all the amenities one could possibly need. As frequent travelers, we deeply value the small touches that transform a place into a home away from home. We were particularly appreciative of the warm welcome, incredibly comfortable bed, inviting ambiance, curated music playlists, impeccable cleanliness, and the stunning courtyard with its ocean vista. The location was tranquil and ideal for exploring Viana do Castelo, Caminha, Ponte de Lima, Valença, and other captivating destinations in Northern Portugal. We are eagerly anticipating our return and another opportunity to enjoy José’s wonderful hospitality during our future visits!

It was faultless

Jose was a warm and welcoming host, his guest house is beautiful and the grounds are meticulous. He went above and beyond to give us a an outstanding experience, from having a welcome placard for us, to providing a bottle of his vino verde, to decorating with fresh flowers from his garden, and leaving fresh fruit and Pateis da nada for our enjoyment. We will return for a longer stay.

It was all wonderful

This  property was absolutely gorgeous. The gardens were spectacular. There are many opportunities to sit and relax having stunning views. The home was lovely. It was very clean and left nothing to be desired. Jose, the host was magnificent. He was very attentive, and even took me to the grocery store. I arrived to a personal note with pastries and a bottle of wine and a fresh fruit bowl. He also had fresh flowers from his garden. Very kind and thoughtful.  The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you might need as far as appliances or utensils. It also had a washer which was very nice. Jose also has a fantastic music playlist that he created and has available to you if you would like to purchase it. Truly one of my favorite places I have visited. I would go back again.

There Was nothing I didn’t like about the property. It might be helpful if you were staying for a while to have a car but it was a 10 in my opinion.

The location was exceptional. Jose was the most amazing and welcoming host. He had thought of everything that one would need in the accommodation. A beautiful place.

beautiful, peaceful just what I needed. And the host exceptional went out of his way to help me, drove me to town picked me up from the train station, took me back to the train station and into town to get groceries,left me a bottle of champagne for my birthday just an all-around excellent place to stay if you’re looking for some peace and quiet
