Casa da Vila

This beautifully decorated and historic house is right in the heart of one of our favorite villages in Portugal (Sortelha). The back patio overlooks the castle ruins and it's an easy walk to a nearby restaurant and tavern (Cardo). A very ample breakfast was provided with fresh bread each morning.

The place was described as a three bedroom home. It was a small studio home. Luckily it was only the two of us and not all our family.

Lovely original cottage in the heart of Sortelha overlooking the castle. Do not expect new renovated modern. It is a pleasant step back to comfortable simple living. Loved being able to sit outside and enjoy the view. Loved the breakfast provided. Simple but completely adequate. Would highly recommend.

The scenery is awesome, the village is a medieval castle surrounded by buildings from this epoch. Wow! It's perfect for those who want to have a time out or being a couple and enjoy a romantic time together. I also had no problems with my phone: good network and wifi in the house - also open wifi hotspot outside. Hint: when your car is not that wide you pass the main gate and drive through the narrow main street up to the marketplace. There are public toilets, an ATM and the sign "Sortelha Artesanato". There you call the hosts. After 5-10min they come and show you your place.

Maybe a crowded place during holidays. I was there at shoulder season and still saw a couple of tourists. Hosts were very friendly. However, they do not answer via booking.com chat. You have to call them via phone. Expect no english - my host offered me portuguese, spanish or french. So I offered them german or english > we used body language and also

Charmig house in very intresting seting. Lovely bedrooms and very nice outdoor space.

As the weather was very hot ( 40 degrees ) the house got very warm without AC .

Everything was perfect for me needs. Breakfast and cooking facilities also perfect. Parked the car 50 meters away , outside the old walls. The view at sunset is spectacular.

Perhaps we can ask the priest not to play the bell tower between midnight and 6 in the morning.

Charm of the house, within the village walls. The heating, always on, making the house really cozy and pleasant. The location. The simpaty of the welcome.

The house has a lot of charm, and to appreciate it, the decoration could be much more simple. A bit less bibelots, or useless objects, would made the house easier to feel confortable inside. The hot water, could only be used in one bathroom at the time.
