Amazing spot with an incredible view on the douro river. Rui, the host, is a fantastic person, he welcomed us with pastel de nata, fresh water in the fridge, there was literally everything needed in the kitchen, infinite toilet paper in the bathrooms, towels for the swimming pool and lot of board games. These are the details that makes you feel welcomed, even in 10 or more ppl. Rui, the host, is a fantastic person and is always ready to help if anything's needed. It was a shame to spend only few days in casa do pombal

Frühstück war nicht vorgesehen und von uns auch nicht erwartet worden. Die Lage im Tal des Fluß Douro und der große, liebevoll gepflegte Garten des Anwesens waren ein kleines Paradies. Etwas störend war die in der Nähe gelegene Autobahnbrücke über das Tal. Aber damit haben wir sehr schnell unseren Frieden gemacht durch den schon erwähnten Garten und die freundliche und sehr familiäre Atmosphäre des Gastgebers. Gerne würden wir wiederkommen und bedanken uns recht herzlich. Diese Unterkunft ist sowohl für Gruppen und Familien gut geeignet und wir können diesen Ort unbedingt weiter empfehlen.

Etwas störend war wie gesagt die Autobahnbrücke in der Nähe. Aber zur Schlafenszeit war es doch sehr ruhig. nochmal, wir haben damit nach dem ersten Tag unseren Frieden gemacht.

We were a family group of 9 between the ages of 6 and 75, and stayed for 3 nights. Casa do Pombal was the perfect end to our 2 week road trip through Portugal - we actually wished we had more days to spend there. Waking up to the view of the river every morning was something special, and enjoying it with coffee and fresh Pasteis de nata was even better. Our host Rui was very welcoming and accommodating, sharing local information with us on restaurants and taxi drivers, and bringing us freshly baked treats and the biggest tomatoes I've ever seen. The gardens run alongside the river and are abundant in fruit and vegetables, which we were allowed to help ourselves to. We tried apples, pears, rosemary, beans, lemons, tomatoes and a marrow/courgette. Inside the house is full of old school charm, and a full size snooker table which provided hours of entertainment. The pool was kept clean, and the kids definitely made good use of it every day. We will definitely be back for another stay at Casa do Pombal.

We were a group of 6 "girl friends", 72 years old, from Australia celebrating our friendship of 65+ years! We simply loved Casa do Pombal, its location, friendly and helpful owner, Rui and Maria, and ease of visiting sites with their recommendation to use Vitor and Cila, local taxi drivers, to take us back into Porto (less than half an hour) or tour the region and vineyards. Rui was exceptionally helpful; he was there on arrival to deliver the keys and every day he cleaned the pool and tended to the fabulous garden from which we ate fresh vegetables and fruit each meal.
