BEFirstly, Sao Vincente is a great spot to explore north of the island and is beautiful within its own right as it is nestled between glorious mountains. The house is located towards the bottom half of the town which is really handy to reach all the local amenities, restaurants and main roads. The house offers a great space with a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a small terrace outside by the door with some deck chairs to chill in the morning and enjoy the views. The house was well equipped with everything you'd need. Our host was also very kind and showed great hospitality as she provided us with fresh eggs, fruit, potatoes and garlic.
There are two things about this place: 1) The beds are not great as they're really hard. It reminded me of lying down on the concrete by the lava pools. The pillows were old and lumpy too. I understand that many hosts see hard mattresses as good investments because they think they're more durable; however, after the third night sleeping, my back was really in pain. We had to use a spare duvet blanket to put over the mattress to give some relief. Investing in a mattress topper to give some comfort to the beds along with new pillows would sort this problem out. 2) When making the booking, we were under the impression that we would have access to off street parking for our rental. This was not the case as an old car permanently occupied the driveway. This meant we had to use the steep street for parking which was prone to fast drivers. This turned out to be very unfortunate as on our last night there, someone drove into the driver's door of our rental which meant we spent the entire next morning wasted on insurance administration stuff. This is not necessarily the hosts fault; however, the listing on booking is misleading on parking details and should be made more transparent OR the host could actually make the driveway available for guests to avoid their rental cars being damaged during their stay.
