Casa do Avô

Beautiful view, house is so well equipped.

A D. Rosa recebeu-nos de braços abertos e sempre com um sorriso. Extremamente querida e prestável. Fomos recebidos com pãozinho e doces caseiros. A cama era muito confortável, assim como o sofá. A casa tinha o básico para cozinhar, estava bem equipada. Embora sem ar condicionado, o quarto, situado no piso inferior, era super fresco e o andar de cima tinha uma poderosa ventoinha. A água da nascente era bastante fresca. Os habitantes da aldeia foram super atenciosos. Todos os dias, de manhã, o padeiro passa com pão fresco, e de 2 em 2 dias, passam vendedores com fruta e vegetais.

Ter sido só uma semana. O único senão da casa foi a claridade que entra logo cedinho pelo quarto através da porta que dá para a rua.

The house is great everything you would need for a comfortable stays is available. Rosa and Marlisa were a great help checking in and out.

The coordinates on booking.com don’t take you all the way to the house, so it took a while to figure out where it was, luckily Rosa was waiting otherwise im not sure if I would have found the house. It’s not possible to park your car by the house due to the narrow streets, which meant several trips walking back and forth to fetch my stuff from the car that was parked in a different street. Also the bathroom had a terrible sewer smell especially during the night. Also the light outside of the door in the bedroom kept turning on during the night, kinda creepy…after the first night I realized that there are cats lounging by the front doors that trigger the sensor.

The little apartment is actually a house, on two levels, bedroom and bathroom with shower and WC being on the ground level (also having an entrance from outside), upstairs the large space consisting of kitchen, livingroom area with a foldable dinner table. The kitchen is fully equipped, you´ll miss nothing: olive oil, milk, local honey, etc. The washing machine was a great help for us and the house was really lovely. Rosa was lovely, helped us with anything we needed (although we didn´t speak the same language), the locally made breads she gave us were absolutely delicious! When we ran out of breadspread she gave us her own, that´s how nice the locals are there. At the upstairs entrance there´s a little terrace with a table and two chairs, it was also our space where the cats of the vecinity came for the daily food we gave them and kept us company for the breakfasts and dinners we had outdoors. Very polite cats, very beautiful and quiet sitting area. All citrus trees were full of ripe fruit around the house, the Magnolia blooming (15-19.03.24), a dream... There´s one bar close to the accomodation, inside the bar you´ll find the one and only local shop providing the basics (their coffee is very good and the people very friendly and open). It´s a small, quiet and beautiful village with only 90 inhabitants, go visit it and talk to the locals working at the bar in the evenings, they speak great English and will tell you a lot about the history and culture of the area. It´s close to the nature park so you can get anywhere you need by car.

The parking space might be a bit small for larger cars but it´s not impossible to get a work around.

It had all the stuff we need. bread for breakfast, milk, toiletries. all stuff for cooking as well.
