Casa Sambinho Gerês

The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. Jose is a great host and very responsive. It’s very suitable for a family with children. Very close to the beautiful river beaches and a about 30-60 min drive from stunning hiking trails.

The apartment (it isn’t a house) is in a quiet location with a nice view from the narrow balcony but there are several dogs in the neighbourhood who bark in the night. The owner lives next door. The apartment was very clean and nice towels were provided.

Despite having asked for a route description this was not forthcoming. We had to call the owner as the house was not easy to find. The house is at the end of an extremely narrow steep lane and parking was very difficult until one worked out the best way to get in and out. There are no sun loungers, the plastic chairs / picnic bench are very uncomfortable and the garden is across the road over a tiny bridge. The owners is building a house below the garden. This spoils the views from the garden a bit. We had to ask for an electric kettle and a teapot.
