Tamboti River Lodge

An absolutely stunning home, spacious and beautifully designed. The location, right on the Crocodile River, was incredible. Corné went out of her way to accommodate our needs - we held a small wedding celebration while there and it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff was also very helpful and unobtrusive. We appreciated having a generator - made the loadshedding quite tolerable. We enjoyed several game drives with Jesse - she was excellent but the cats still eluded us.

The location of the house is stunning and facing the Crocodile River, and the sound of the river is so serene The house is also stunning, we love love it.

The kitchen utensils, especially pots, need replacement, and the dishcloths were not cleaned properly. The housekeeper needs to pay attention to detail when cleaning and washing the dishes. The outside showers need cleaning and cutting the trees hanging in there The throws didn't smell clean.

The location was great. Views are great. The staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable. The furniture was nice.

Difficulty in paying for the place. Upon booking I paid with a credit card but then they wanted the remaining balance to be paid into a foreign PayPal account or into some local bank account…which I had to drive around to find this bank. Why not just pay the whole amount with a regular credit card? The place was not really clean. Lots of spiderwebs and a big birds nests by the dining room. Seems like only the bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen gets cleaned and nowhere else. Outdoor decking shade is an accident waiting to happen. They rigged it with chains but it does not feel safe to be out on the patio. Oven didn’t work. Tried it several times before the load shedding hours and we just couldn’t get it to work. One of the upstairs ceiling fans is about to fall out of the sky. Some of the lights are out.

This place is spectacular. When we arrived we were greeted by a herd of elephants at the river, it was amazing. The back of the main house and several of the bedrooms have the most fabulous views of the river. We spent hours just watching the wildlife. For us the game drives were the highlight of the trip. We went out everyday and also spent a day in Kruger Park. As a group of 8 adults, our host recommended a catering chef to prepare the meals...what a treat and the food was incredible thanks to Piet! The house staff were accommodating and so very helpful. They made the visit smooth. If I could move here I would. I can't recommend this place more highly...location, location, location! Hoping the baby lion cubs have all found their way back home after the elephants frightened them from their den. Thanks for the great visit Corne.

The area is experiencing rolling electric blackouts. While not terrible, you need to plan your evening so that you don't find yourself without electricity at the most inconvenient time. The house has a generator and plenty of flashlights, so this really isn't a problem and we were always aware of the planned timings of the outages.

beautiful house set in a perfect location. all the amenities you could want for. just amazing to be able to sit in the pool with a beer and watch elephants cross the river in front of you.
