the house exceeded my expectations. 5star service from the host, she gave excellent service even though it is a self catering house. good quality furniture, comfortable beds, excellent appliances and luxurious bathrooms . outdoor entertainment area has everything you need, perfect braai area, nice shade and a lovely pool. complimentary we received so much from the host, we did not have have to by as much form the shops. she checked in all the time, and sent someone to clean trough out. Els you are the best!! see you soon in Cape Town

Staying at the Black House is a truly exceptional and luxurious experience, with this being my 5th visit. The house is a beautiful Victorian home with lots of personality and charm. The interior is very well appointed, with quirky and timeless furniture, as well as attractive paintings and other artwork. The host and owner, Els was as always very professional and make you feel welcome, from the minute you walk through the front door. It is a delight for entertaining, as the house is fully equipped with everything one needs, from crockery and cutlery, to pots and pans, to an array of glasses, as well as herbs and spices. The beautiful pool area, with braai and outdoor seating complete the experience. Great to relax and unwind. Want to mention the fine linen and plush towels. Robertson is a beautiful town and the wine farms in the Robertson Valley and surrounding areas are outstanding and well known for their exceptional wines, to mention a few - Springfield, Bon Courage, Zandvliet, Weltevrede (and the restaurant, Kapokbos), Silverthorn and De Wetshof. To stock up on food and drinks: Louretta's Bakery, AF Kriel Butchery, Pinto Butchery and Le Verne Wine Boutique.

"Wonderfully relaxing stay in a house that exudes comfort and peace."

The location in town is not great, but when you close the gate you are in a different world. And you don't want to leave! The house is beautiful, exactly as advertised. The host was very friendly and generous.

Not the best part of town, but not dangerous so not to worry.
