"this have been one of the worst experiences I have had"

the location

it needs serious maintenance. the electricity is not up to standard, the basin in the bathroom is blocked. The pillows on the bed are deferent size very unconfutable. the Weber braai is falling apart. the fridge was not working, no attempt to fix it. the geyser was not working.

"Beyond Shocking!"

We made a mistake in booking the property. We had been driving around seeking accommodation for the evening because we had an early appointment the next morning at the consulate. We arrived at the property and was given the keys by a neighbour just down the road. We then immediately contacted the owner and asked if we could please cancel even though the listing said non-refundable and asked if we could be refunded. I explained that we made a mistake, that the property was too far away from our appointment the next morning and also mentioned that we made a mistake in booking a property with no wifi available. The owner then said that I should contact bookings.com because she could not do anything on her side. I then contacted bookings and again spoke to the owner afterwards and explained that she would receive an email requesting her to waive the cancellation penalty. She said OKAY (numerous times!) and asked that we throw the keys of the property through an open window and even sent a picture of the window. We then did as she asked and threw the keys through the window. Immediately afterwards, she did not answer her phone and only sent a msg later on, via whatsapp to say that we could not be refunded because that is the rules of bookings.com and that all she could do was to consider letting us stay at the property another time, but she was not obligated to do so. We then could not get back into the property, having thrown the keys through the window and she refused to authorize a refund. We ended up paying the full price for a property we did not stay at! Beyond Shocking! The agent we spoke to at Bookings.com, was however kind and tried his best to help us, by sending numerous requests to the owner, which were simply ignored.

The electricity kept running out and we had to request more. The house was not organised for a rental. No extra blankets available, had to be requested from the host the next day after a very cold night in the accommodation.
