Olive Hill Familly House

This place is a 12/10! We were a group of 6 and stayed here for 2 nights. The hosts were super lovely and the house is amazing and has everything you need for a quiet island getaway. We used the outdoor grill and were able to cook up some local fish. Thanks so much for having us!

Perfect location, close to excellent supermarket and both major towns. Peaceful surroundings and well equipped kitchen. Air conditioning was a plus. This is a rustic home from home and the hosts are generous, friendly and very helpful. Although they live nearby, you feel totally separate and private . The hot tub and outdoor shower are welcome additions.

There could just be more comfortable sun beds to relax outside

Ivana & Mislav are amazing hosts and live a stone's throw away from the big house, therefore they were on hand to answer any questions and help out when needed. Vis is a beautiful island if you like a quiet holiday in a beautiful location. The last discotheque closed 20 years ago !!!

The pool was in the pictures, but it is not there. it was the main reason why we chose that accommodation, so it was disappointing

Amazing view, good location, very quiet and peaceful, cool house and the house owners are very kind and helpful.

The location, the owners (for example by cleaning the fish for barbecue), the space and house. If you want to stay in nature, this is your place. Amazing view, great patios and awesome stargazing at night. We had a wonderful boat trip around the island with Mislav.

Swimming pool not available, but we were ok with that given the water shortage on the island and plenty of beaches

The house was in an amazing location with a great view! It was extremely clean and Ivana was a great host!

It can get quite hot in the bedrooms upstairs but we also stayed during an extreme heatwave.

Great place, fabulous place for vacation with kids!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house on Vis. The house is beautifully located on a hill with a spectacular view!! Because the house is used by the owners during wintertime it has everything you need and really feels like a house with a soul and not just a holiday rental. At the same time everything is very clean! Mislav and Ivana, the owner really created something beautiful here, they spend 5 years building the house and it is self sustaining with there own solar energy source and there own water supply. Really admirable what they build here!! This does mean you cannot use the air conditioning at night, which makes total sense and we support that!! We where there whilst temperatures were really high (34 degrees) and especially in the children’s bedroom it was very warm at night (even with fan). Also seeing the water supply is natural and filtered with their own filtering system, Mislav explained that they can drink it perfectly well but if you are not used to it you could potentially have some problems with your stomach. So we decided to drink bottled water not wanting to risk it. Mislav also works for an excursion company and we booked a tour with him to the blue caves and other caves which we really enjoyed! Ivana and Mislav are wonderful people who are open, friendly and welcoming! They really make you feel at home and have a very easy going, bubbly vibe to them! Especially with Ivana it felt like talking to a fun loving friend! During our stay there Ivana Organized a massage for me at the house, and without exaggerating, this was the best massage I ever had!! (And I’ve had quite a few!) I would recommend anyone going there to try it! It was like all my stress was gone. The island Vis is a really special island and has a different vibe to it than other parts of Croatia. Tourism is still at the beginning and this creates a very unique experience.

Olive Hill is a tranquil, beautiful retreat. There are many spaces to sit and relax outside to eat, enjoy the view, read or just snooze (we did all of those frequently!). Inside, there is plently of room, as well, including a comfy seating area to read or watch TV. We took full advantage of the well-stocked kitchen and fixed many meals (easy with the Tommy supermarket just a few minutes by car down the road). The beds were comfortable, plenty of linens and anything else we needed. The true joy of Olive Hill are the owners, Ivana and Mislav. They are kind, friendly hosts, happy to share the joy and love they feel for their home. It started at the ferry, where Ivana met us and arranged a taxi for the short drive to the house. We were treated to a helpful introduction to the house and island as well as good conversation -- both Ivana and Mislav are very easy to talk with. We knew from reviews that they move out of this house during the summer into a smaller house on the property. That does not interfere in anyway with privacy (the smaller house is tucked below on the hill and you really don't see them much -- they are very respectful not to disturb you during your stay). We also learned that they actually built the house with a great eye towards sustainability -- the house is solar powered, easy with Vis's sunny climate (and there's a back-up generator) and they compost their organic matter directly into their gardens. This was a big bonus for us being like-minded. We also appreciated the information and tips they passed along as far as activities, sites and logisitics. Go with their recommendations -- you won't be disappointed! We thoroughly enjoyed a Blue Caves tour they recommended as well as used their local recommendation to rent a car (while you can travel the island via scooter, bus and taxi, for a party of three we really appreciated the ease of having a car).
