Position. Futon room. Big.

First floor is dark.

The location. That part of Kyoto is like heaven on earth.

The house could have a better interior design, it feels like there was a very short budget. The upper room didn't feel safe with that door and the stairs were too steep. Good for the price though.

Location and well working washing machine.

Very poor cleanliness (we killed 2 cockroaches). The amount of hair on the floor from the previous tenants allowed me to make a small wig. Poor kitchen equipment. No couch or windows on the lower level. Very steep stairs and risky going down them. Poor heating (only through air conditioning which was full of dust). Mats for sleeping on the floor are very thin and not very comfortable. There is a ton of dust and dirt under the furniture, warrior/samurai decorations, behind the mirror, under the fridge and in many other places. Tea corner of questionable use and unnecessary.

Location is excellent. Not even a 5 minutes walk to the main attractions in all directions—shopping, temples, residential areas with rivers parallel to them, famous hamburger restaurant. Great for daily morning walks.

The rooms are a bit dark and eerie. One room has a shrine which I am assuming might be very cultural but for those of other religions, sleeping next to a statue/shrine can be intimidating.

The location was perfect, in between 2 subway stations and within walking distance to old Kyoto and the more modern part. The bedding was comfortable, could do better with the pillows. The house was cozy and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Loved the cute little bathroom and low table and chairs.

Not a huge issue but the internal stairs were very steep. Leave your suitcases downstairs and just take your pj's up.
