The host was very organised and greeted us upon arrival. The property was spacious, clean and had all the necessary amenities. Main bedroom was very comfortable and kitchen was small but fully equipped and great for gathering as a family after a long day out.

Water pressure was poor and sofa bed was uncomfortable. Mosquitoes were an issue, despite host providing repellent. We avoided opening the windows for air to avoid them coming in, which made the stay a little claustrophobic. Shower in bathroom could do with a fixed shower screen, rather than shower curtain. Bathroom floor was always wet.

The location was good which is 30 minutes walk to the old town and there is also bus station close to the house. A free parking spot is avaliable right in front of the house.

The cleaning was terrible. There was hair on the bedsheets, and it seemed likely that the sheets hadn’t been changed. The entire house had a bad smell, and there were ants on the floor. The bathroom also needed some maintenance. I regret booking this place, as I ended up sleeping in my car. On the positive side, when I communicated these issues after check-out, the owner mentioned that if I had informed them, they could have changed the sheets. However, I didn’t want to wake them up at 2 a.m. when I returned from the old town.

The accommodation was very comfortable and very quiet too. The host was very helpful when I arrived late, which I appreciated. This was the cleanest apartment I have ever seen in my life, top marks to the family. It is about 25 minutes walk to the city centre. Frequent buses around the corner, to the city centre and also to the beach at San Cataldo, which was pleasant but very, very dead in early May. Bus €1.50 each way, and look carefully at the schedules on sgm lecce.it because in low season the buses are very infrequent. There is a market nearby on a Mon/Fri (mercato bisettimanale). If you walk out the stadium road for a few minutes you will see it on your right. There is a Conad supermarket 5 minutes away. I rented a bike from Elerent bikes opposite the castle and it was excellent. About 15 minutes cycling from the apartment takes you out into the countryside for leisure cycling on the flat. I suggest that you wear a helmet and hi viz jacket to increase your probability of surviving the potholes and the crazy drivers :) The countryside was beautiful, with lots of percorso ciclisto turismo minor roads for pleasant cycling. Eg take the first left after the stadium, for San Ligoria. Note - Google maps does not differenciate between paved and unpaved minor roads, so be prepared. If you choose to go to Brindisi by bus, there is a bus "NP Terminal," on the roundabout at the end of the street that may suit your needs. It runs on the school times so it is very infrequent. Again, check the schedules on sgm lecce.it Non-students can also use the bus. It goes directly to the Central Bus station at Ex Foro Boario and takes about 20 minutes. I used Itabus to go to Brindisi, and it was fine. Note, however, when it gets to Brindisi, it just stops on the street, in case you are expecting it to pull into a terminal. Also note, I took two city buses while in beautiful Brindisi - and missed two buses which had gone up to 5 minutes earlier than scheduled.

Bus to lecce and san calado beach beside accommodation. Good supermarket beside also. Accommodation is large and comfortable.
