Good location, nice staff, good value for money. Traditional stay, quite big. Lots of teas, coffees, water provided. Nice view of the garden.

Quite basic, dusty due to walls are a bit crumbly, not much storage at all.

The home was very traditional and something to experience. Homestay was close to train station and convenience store. Lots of space and kitchen facilities.

We were booked to stay two nights, but only managed one night due to comfort level for our family. The stairs were very steep and were concerned our daughter may fall. We didn’t want to close the doors in the bedrooms as it was too stuffy. The tatami mats were incredibly uncomfortable to sleep on, we understood it would be a different however it was unbearable for us. We are quite a sociable family and found it challenging with the dining room option which was uncomfortable to gather and debrief after a long day. Also, there were signs all around the home requesting to not make any noise, and this was also mentioned to us on arrival, which dampens the mood and we were constantly telling our daughter to not make any noise, which is hard for a 4yr old. The bathroom smelt of mould, and felt unclean with the mould. Even though the other reviews state this homestay was amazing, we can understand it just wasn’t suited for our family but thought it best to leave an honest review as we originally booked this stay based on other traveller reviews.

Everything! Nice ambiance and very convenient. Lots of restaurants nearby and close to higashiyama station. The owner was also very nice! He provided everything we needed.

We booked the whole house just for the two of us, and while it was more space than we needed, it made the stay feel extra special. The little wooden bathtub with a view of the Zen garden was such a relaxing way to end the day after walking around. It’s a wonderful place to stay—perfect for families, friends, or even couples wanting a cozy, traditional Japanese home experience. The location is also fantastic, close to many busy areas but still peaceful.

The host met us at check-in and provided information which was helpful. There was plenty of room for four guests. We appreciated getting fresh towels and water bottles every day. Host was flexible with letting us store our luggage after we checked out. The location was good for walking to downtown and other major areas, and we liked the quiet neighborhood.

It would be nice to provide some shelves and storage for guests. For example, the bedroom had no place to store or hang clothes and there were no hooks in the bathroom.
