a Fire alarm in our room went off early morning hours during a big storm and we were unable to locate anybody to assist to switch it off. I eventually managed to find a switch it off. The friendlyness of the staff in the morning to check in on us despite going being in the middle of the storm themselves made up for the inconvenience and we can only compliment the team on a brilliant effort.

We booked Jonkershuis which was advertised as sleeping four people. However, on checking in we were informed that it was renovated and that it now only slept two and no one had let us know. It was booked for guests to our wedding, and Laborie could only offer to bring in mattresses for the others to sleep on the floor and a bottle of champagne, seemingly not considering that one of the guests was an 80-year old. If we were informed of this we would have booked somewhere else. Even when we asked for a simple request for extra towels for the other guests, we were given attitude and made to feel like it was our mistake. All in all, a super disappointing experience, due to their own fault...

The unwillingness to boil 4 eggs for our "on the go" breakfast. This could easily have been done on the previous day.

Top destination, recently upgraded with good restaurants and shop on site. The pool suite was marvelous.

A problem with my booking was not solved in a human manner, that is very sad. You should have some trust in your loyal customers. They just refused my booking because theirs and the booking.com system went tilt ‘after’ I did the booking, completely out of my control or liability. So They refused to confirm my booking (for a room that was free!) when I was already on the road to the property, and also had stayed there a week earlier. Cruelty, with a friendly face, but still intolerable, a nightmare you do not want when traveling.

Very comfortable accommodation at the heart of a working wine farm, with no less than 3 on site restaurants, all excellent in their own way and with a choice of "Suzanne" or "Stoep" for breakfast. Excellent swimming pool a few metres away from the room.

The Jonkershuis was formerly one substantial Cape Dutch style property but is now divided into three quite spacious areas. Unfortunately the units were re-designed with communicating doors between them and ours was certainly not soundproof, cigarette smokeproof, or light proof coming from the central unit. In fact it had not been well designed/installed and should in our opinion be re-done with double doors. Water pressure in the shower(s) was quite low but there may not be much that can be done about that.
